patch arma to newest version before installing day z beta patch?

what the subject says.

i am no going on my 4th install attempt with retail version. do i need to update arma2 operation arrowhead with newest patch (1.60) before proceeding to install beta patch and than day z files?

i actually read through that "install guide" and even though it is explaining the retail version install it still references a steam file structure in it. i quit reading after that. ill patch and go from there. thanks!


here is where i think my problem stems from:

4) Make a folder named "@DayZ" in your Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead directory.

what exactly is the "Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead directory"??

i dont have one of those. i do have a bohemia interactive folder where i installed everything.

I think for the retail version you install it in the same directory, i could be wrong i use the Steam version sorry, have to wait for someone with retail to help
