BuddyRP 41 Posted January 29, 2014 to switch things up, i would like to make a suggestion for the forum instead of the game itself. much like the familiar please write out the security code as seen above in the box below to verify that you are a human - i feel that people who would like to register on this forum should be required to pass a test on effectively using the search function in order to become a user and post. no i'm not sure as to how it could work or what they would search for.. but if everyone who reads this is able to catch my drift, i'm willing to bet at least some would agree that the amount of people who dont use it far outweigh the ones that do. i'm open-minded and like opinions; what are others thoughts on implementing this? Guest Posted January 29, 2014 Suggests idea regarding the search function the irony of this topic already being made.
BuddyRP 41 Posted January 29, 2014 im sure that somewhere in your 3,725 posts, you've responded to a persons new thread saying "use the search function before posting" on more than several occasions. why shouldnt new users be trained into a good habit instead of them making their first, second or maybe even third thread and being scorned in every response about not using it? all of these 1-10 word threads asking "where can i find a mosin?" or "why does everyone KOS" ....several threads that come back time and time again after being answered or discussed in the 5-6 other threads before it. no this wouldnt get rid of the problem completely im aware but it could at least push new users in the right direction so theyre aware the search function actually exists and they WOULD know how it works after registering. less clutter in the forum for the mods as well as less not so nice responses from community members who see and answer the same questions in one thread after another... doesnt that sound even the slightest bit appealing? TEST_SUBJECT_83 465 Posted January 30, 2014 Maybe new users would be required to use the search function on they're first 10 posts. So the first 10 time they want to make a post, when they click "start a new topic" they are immediately brought to the search menu.
gjhook 12 Posted January 30, 2014 Seriously? How does this impact you or anyone else? Relax and find something creative to cry about.
BuddyRP 41 Posted January 30, 2014 (edited) Seriously? How does this impact you or anyone else? Relax and find something creative to cry about.for someone who's been a part of this forum less than 1 day you sure are highly opinionated and knowledgeable with what the whole point of this thread is even about. oh. one more thing: 11. Don't be a forum Nazi Edited January 30, 2014 by Stryder.us
gjhook 12 Posted January 30, 2014 How does being on the forum for one day matter? Move on and cry about something else that actually matters.
BuddyRP 41 Posted January 30, 2014 (edited) How does being on the forum for one day matter? Move on and cry about something else that actually matters.it matters because you clearly have no idea how often the words "please use the search function before posting" are used around here and i made this thread simply to the point of trying to offer a suggestion. not to "cry" about something as you put it in your childish manner. and judging by how you yourself were also told by someone to use it in your own thread, id say that's the only reason you're here on mine trashing it out of mere rage. http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/169391-a-few-simple-suggestions/#entry1720334 you are a prime example of why i wrote this up in the first place. gjhook 12 Posted January 30, 2014 (edited) Give me one damn good reason why having a few multiple ideas posted in seperate threads keeps you from sleeping at night? Edited January 30, 2014 by Hemoglobin
BuddyRP 41 Posted January 30, 2014 Give me one damn good reason why having a few multiple ideas posted in seperate threads keeps you from sleeping at night?it doesn't. i simply couldn't help but notice the amount of times new users are told to use the search function and i wonder every time "what if there was a way for them to know to use it without having to be told time and time again?" thus, resulting in me thinking about ways to try and help fix that and then coming here to share my thoughts with others; because that's what you do on forums. this is a suggestion section and i'm providing my suggestion. it would seem however that nowadays a civilized response is too much to ask for of some individuals.
