Character Just Got Wiped For No Reason?

So i was playing in this server when i started to lag, doors weren't opening, items weren't switching/ getting dropped or picked up. so I do what i normally do, I get to a safe location to log out, and go look for a server with a better ping. I find one, same type (regular). I spawn in and I'm a completely fresh spawn with absolutely nothing on me. Anyone have a reason why this happened? (NOTE: I have to do this often because my internet is shit and this is the first time it has happened.)

Some servers are not connected to the central hive and will end up with you character having gear only specific to that server. And if you lost your gear in the Central Hive it is due to it being in Alpha and your gear will get wiped every now and then.

This is what i do to prevent this happening:

Find a server and test if it saves, simply log in run around, pick something up and log out.
If you log in the same place, with the same item, its a go :)

So i stick to this one server, theres no reason to server hop, to test something, the only reason to server hop is to get loot faster, simple as that.

 

Ive yet to get my char "wiped" because of this "method" hehe, it works like a charm and i stick to one server only.

EDIT:
Wanna dd, i to have crappy ass internet, im sharing a 2/2 m/bit line with 4 other people, so my ping sucks lol.
