Bash Arkin 266 Posted January 27, 2014 As i see it right now Zombies (Even with an AI) wont be an issue, i want to avoid the word special infected because i'm sure alot of you will just go ">:O NO!" Because thats how it is when anyone suggests anything new or related to any other game. As of right now, i'd like to see Zombies that are harder to take down. Right now i'm thinking of just two for the moment, one being in a heavy bomb squad suit that is strong, but quite slow, this one would better just be avoided rather then anything, i have a picture blow for a bomb squad suit. The next one would be a type of loud zombie, one that screams and attracts more zombies to it, making it something that has to be taken out as quickly as possible, even worth using a bullet to make sure it doesn't scream again (this one i don't have a picture for). zifadel 48 Posted January 27, 2014 Interesting idea, but realism is pretty key around these parts. Super loud screaming Zombie is more sci-fi than this perceived reality. What I WOULD like to see is realistic loot from Zombies. If I kill a Military zombie, it stands to reason it would have Military loot. I mean, I can see the helmet and military fatigues when I kill it. Sure, the items would probably be pretty worn, but it could be an improvement if a new spawn was able to take one down. Medical Zombies should have medicines. Police Zombies could have pepper spray, batons, handguns, handcuffs etc
IkaikaKekai 1957 Posted January 27, 2014 'Special' zombies I think are pretty much gonna be limited to zombies wearing protective gear. IE a construction worker being slightly more resistant to a blow the head, zombie soldiers with flack jackets and helmets being able to take 1 or 2 more shots. Basically your EOD suit zombie will be about it (though I doubt they'll have EOD suits), 'Screamers' or any of your standard special zombies (spitters, tanks, climbers, boomers, ect ect) will not be in the game. stielhandgranate 480 Posted January 27, 2014 Why would there be a large amount of EOD troops wearing bomb blast suits in a zombie outbreak. Most EOD shops only have 2 of those things.
Bash Arkin 266 Posted January 27, 2014 It was more of a gameplay thought rather then a realism thought.
YeBittenDog 106 Posted January 27, 2014 I wouldn't mind seeing some zombies missing limbs. Crawler zombies without legs gnashing out at your ankles as you pass them by. Maybe stationary zombies? Like ones that have been so destroyed all they can do is slump next to a car and growl at you, possibly alerting other zeds in the area. I could see simple (yet realistic) zombies like this becoming part of the game.
Hexxalot 15 Posted January 28, 2014 (edited) As far as realism goes, 'special' infected would almost definitely be seen in an actual zombie outbreak. There would be some zombies that are huge and muscular, some that would pounce you as if they were animals, maybe even some that attract other zombies with noise. But, i highly doubt we'll be officially seeing those due to the fact that dayz players really dont want that simply for the fact that another game already did that. Stupid, but true. However, keep in mind that once steam workshop is established, we will almost definitely be seeing tanks, spitters, boomers etc. Edited January 28, 2014 by Hexxalot

And it's not because 'a few vocal players don't like the idea', the guy making the game doesn't like the idea. While yes there would be some muscular zombies/infected, but they wouldn't turn into the Incredible Hulk, at best they'ed be Arnold in the 80s. The Zombie Virus isn't going to develop mutations, if anything it'll hinder the infected. A fat guy isn't going to suddenly turn into a walking bomb. Zombies already sort of 'pounce' on players occasionally, but that doesn't mean we're gonna have 1/10 zombies start stalking around like wolves or move faster than a human can physically move. We use the term zombies but really these are living people that are rabid/insane/crazy and lacking in mental facilities, they're not gonna suddenly turn into superheros because a disease ate away part of their brain (or whatever the true lore is)
eleventhavenue 204 Posted January 28, 2014 Zeds with missing limbs? So why are they not dead then?? It would be nice if you could loot stuff you clearly see on the zeds, like clothes. Of course only after the sicknes system is properly added...
