GodOfGrain 191 Posted June 23, 2012 With a high resolution it is impossible to read the degree numberson the compass. As this is really important for teamplay we needa solution for this.(e.g.: "Enemy, 300m, 30 degrees"; "You see that barn on 240?")With a middle resolution it works just fine.Does anyone of you know a solution for this problem?I guess DayZ wont accept a third party modifcation to replace the compass... Beloozero 118 Posted June 23, 2012 Shut up' date=' it's alpha.[/quote']Did you seriously just make an entirely new account to post that one message?Honestly, I haven't noticed it at all. If it shows temperature, I would definitely want a graphical increase, since I have not seen it before...
amentes 0 Posted June 23, 2012 Shut up' date=' it's alpha.[/quote']Shut up, this has nothing to do with Alpha.Honestly' date=' I haven't noticed it at all. "Degrees" in this case means 0/360 - 1 on the compass.I don't see how they're too small though. Works fine for me at 1920x1200, but then again my screen is freaking huge so that might be helping me. Not sure what the solution would be though tbh without making the compass take up half the screen :-/Shut up' date=' it's alpha.[/quote']Your names going to seem real stupid when the mod reaches beta. Legacy (DayZ) 1091 Posted June 23, 2012 Shitty user bannedMight have to do with the Interface size?
R71 (DayZ) 5 Posted June 23, 2012 1920x1080 and can see them ok so maybe it is your settings? Why cant you just say like NW. Or if you need say NW but more W as a mid point?
mtuckner 46 Posted June 23, 2012 There are nice aftermarket compass mods that make it nice and high resolution. Can't use them in DayZ but it should be very simple for Rocket to add it. He should.
adimch 1 Posted June 23, 2012 The ACE mod had a good compass but it took up a lot of the screen, because of exactly what you are requesting. If you are pointing out enemies, calling them by degrees is pretty specific, you could be up to ten degrees out depending on where you are stood in relation to your team. You could remember where N/S/E/W are, which is pretty easy, then then just go by halves and quarters. Here are the numbers if you don't own a compass.
GodOfGrain 191 Posted June 23, 2012 thanks for your answers.I will play around with the interface resolution size, but I tried it once and I think this doesnt work.Rough indications are not enough sometimes. E.g. if you want to point out a specific building or landmark in some distance. "SWS" would point at a whole range of objects. It is possible to guess the degree approximatley, perhaps by having a sheet of paper with the numbers... but in a stress situation you will inevitably make mistakes. Yea hope rocket will implement a new model.
integ3r 5 Posted June 23, 2012 Isn't the compass actually 3D so it's just a matter of changing the 'distance' it has from the screen?
