SomeGuy01 7 Posted January 27, 2014 So I came across a guy who ambushed my buddy and me but somehow knew who we both were. Is there some way to see other names that I haven't ever noticed?
DoxHoliday 51 Posted January 27, 2014 You can hit 'P' to bring up a list of players currently in that server. If it was a low-pop server, thay may explain how he knew. Afaik, currently there is no way to actively identify people you meet in-game, without conversing in chat and/or guessing from the 'P'layers list data.

SomeGuy01 7 Posted January 27, 2014 I know about the Player List, we never said our names, and it was an almost full server.

spartanxapathy 203 Posted January 27, 2014 (edited) Only way I know of is using a hack (if it was a full server, etc. etc. etc.) EDIT: Or you were the victim of a hitman  Edited January 27, 2014 by SpartanxApathy
SomeGuy01 7 Posted January 27, 2014 I don't know, the only person I ever did an action on was my friend. We were just looting a building and we hear a guy just threaten us by name. We get cautious and my buddy goes to look outside and gets killed. I holed up in the building and he was taunting but then I guess either logged off or ran away because he didn't stay. Mdogg2005 447 Posted January 27, 2014 Only way I know of is using a hack (if it was a full server, etc. etc. etc.) Wrong. Stop spreading misinformation. Even if such a thing were in game, and there probably is, it's not a hack. It's a freaking script or cheat - not a hack.
Crit 46 Posted January 27, 2014 Opening your mic in any chat will show your name. Typing will also show your name.
Pandema 352 Posted January 27, 2014 Opening mic in direct doesn't show your name, typing will, and so does performing an action on someone. Or he made a damn good guess.

Sorry I said hack, not script, forgot that's such a huge deal, and yes, it is in the game, saw a video some kid made bragging about his scripts (that better?) and the names of the players were above their heads. dagnome 50 Posted January 27, 2014 So he knew who you were, whats the big deal again?Even if it was some form of hack it obviously tells him who is who, not a HUGE game breaking hack. My guess is he found everyone else on the server and asked them the same question and you just happened to be last, simple process of elimination really. Hethwill_Khan 233 Posted January 27, 2014 The process of tracking someone through Chernarus acting Bounty Hunter is quite daunting. IF it was the case, well done. Damn, DayZ Red Dead Redemption mod...
