rydekk 250 Posted January 25, 2014 I would love to see in a future patch weather conditions that affect the way your character behaves. For example,Storms would slow you down, reduce your sight, drasticly decrease your accuracy(due to strong winds), you get very cold, very quickly, slower response. ect... You would need to stay inside and warm up until the storm has blown over. Heavy rain would impair your sight, reduce accuracy, ect...Hot days would make you more thirsty, make you faint, you need to stick in the shadows, don't run as much ect...You get the picture. Also, the elements should also take a toll on your weapons. Example, your gun needs cleaning after a while (because of all the dirt, water, getting inside the gun cloggin up the mechanism) and might need replacement ( new barrel for a pistol, firing pin, ect) What do you think chaps? rydekk 250 Posted January 25, 2014 well if its anything like the mod, this will be there eventually.. I'm not sure if a mod covers a heavy storm... If you have seen it, please state which mod so i can check it out :o. (I mostly play Epoch and to be honest, i don't see storms. i see rain though)
Ghostflux 100 Posted January 25, 2014 Isn't this already planned?
FishGuts4Lunch 66 Posted January 25, 2014 I have seen it rain cats and dogs in the mod, you could get sick or cold. Building a fire was often needed to get warm. I like it! I look forward to more survival, less shooting/sniping. Trading with other players for meds, food, artifacts or self crafted objects will make the game much more interesting IMHO. PhilB 230 Posted January 25, 2014 Pretty sure epic storms are a given, just a matter of time. They're simply focused on other core issues right now. Mechanics probably already exist but simply aren't implemented yet for performance reasons. We see still that item management continues to be laggy.Def like to see comprehensive feedback loops with weather conditions-gun wear, caloric needs, etc. The first open world game to simulate dynamic weather systems? That's huge.No mod variations including vanilla seem to feature anymore the awesome storms one would typically experience in the early dayz. I remember some quite intense moments in Cherno during extreme thunderstorms, heart pounding stuff.
Korsbaek 1778 Posted January 25, 2014 Wind has to be VERY strong in order to have an impact on your sight. I've played a lot of airsoft, and even with those little plastic BB's wind has little impact on their flight and my aim.

It's a storm, it has stormy winds. not a breeze that you feelwhen driving a cabrio XD
fitzee 248 Posted January 25, 2014 Hi. I would assume the elements are going to play a pretty big role at some point. Clothing getting damp is already in, even if it doesn't affect your health/stamina yet. Looking forward to having a reason to carry a raincoat in the future. Regards. FishGuts4Lunch 66 Posted January 25, 2014 indeed, we are already finding the raincoats. It may just be a matter of time

Well...I would love these things implemented...but im afraud half the dayz community would quite the game...game is already to hard for a great deal of players. I remember Namalsk foundly, shivering on the mountain looking for warmer clothes. Edited January 25, 2014 by svisketyggeren
djporternz 644 Posted January 25, 2014 (edited) Effects of cold/wet are already hinted at in the configs, resulting in Illnesses like 'Cold', 'Flu' and 'Brain Flu'. That last one is linked to 'Zombification'. Edited January 25, 2014 by DJPorterNZ
Siberian (DayZ) 527 Posted January 25, 2014 weather effects that actual do someting is the single thing ive looked forward to in Dayz since the earliest days of the mod.. the idea that getting soaked and risking the elements affect how/when u can move about would be awesome.. forced to find shelter and wait out storms. it all sounds good.
