matthewhuberty 0 Posted January 25, 2014 So after a few long days of working with some friends, I finally had everything I really wanted to collect in this game. About 30 minutes ago (5:40pm central time) I was ready to head back to populated cities to do some anti griefing, when it appeared a 6pm server restart was happening, which I was ok with. I log out at 6:00pm and log back in instantly at 6:01 to find myself on a beach with no items....a fresh spawn. My friends and I in skype all begin freaking out, one of them is not far down the beach from me, also a fresh spawn. Why are characters being reset again with NO WARNING, and no twitter updates explaining what might have caused it. I just want to be updated so I can be prepared before losing approximately 20-30 hours of gameplay. I understand we're in alpha, but before busting out resets on us like this...can we PLEASE be made aware of them. Note: If all 4 of us are wrong about this character reset, or if it's temporary or fixable etc., please let me know what you know. Thanks. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
SxeDave 7 Posted January 25, 2014 Your character is still there probably, its the server keep trying different ones and dont equip your new character at all. Eventually you will get your old one back. It happened to me twice since December. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
dallas 5195 Posted January 25, 2014 (edited) The server you joined isn't configured correctly, so the server can't connect to the hive. When the server can't connect to the hive and extract your character information, the game creates a new character at the beach. If you stay on this server and the server connects to the hive, while you're playing on it, the server will overwrite your character data on the hive. However if you disconnect from the server as soon as you see you character data isn't loading, your original character information is intact and will load up, when you connect to a properly configured server, which can connect to the hive. For some reason though, even though 3/4 of us instantly logged out upon seeing fresh characters (out of frustration), all of us have apparently now been saved as fresh characters to the hive (we've checked on a bunch of servers now). So maybe the server lost the hive and instantly reconnected, saving all of us as new character? Well that's frustrating.
