Clue (DayZ)

Character resets getting out of hand.

Recommended Posts

Greets,

As of the patch two days ago, my character, and a friend sat next to me playing to are having rolling resets every time we leave a sever. We've had it after joining the same server after a short break, joining a different server on a separate reset occasion etc.. What one forum post says to avoid another says to follow and do that religiously. This is seriously out of hand and we've lost 3-6 hour playing sessions more than once in the past 36 hours. The sad bit is we love the game so much we keep restarting but now it really has just gotten too much and gone too far. Stop adding wank useless shit like receivers and transmitters and fix the FUNDAMENTALS of the game - your priorities are unbelievable.

Regards,

A pissed off fan.

Until you log out and log in again. The point is we've lost multiple characters over the past 36 hours and it's to a point now where playing or "testing" is truly pointless. Fix the basics then implement quality of life features.

Hello, this is a regular occurrence for everyone unfortunately. From what I've found though when you join a different server from the one you had previously been playing on, and your loadout is erased; quickly just leave that server and rejoin the server you had last been on where your geared out charactor was. It SHOULD give you back everything prior to joining the new server that wiped you.

This happend to me several times last night and I was able to retrieve my gear doing just that. I hope it works for you as well.

I find that as long as you are on the same country server you should be fine, For example the "GB" servers are working despite the random wipe of my character earlier.

So.. they're not working then are they?

It has been noted in the forums that some servers were having connection issues with the hive. The above advice about logging out and trying a different server is solid advice and has worked for me multiple times in the past two days. I would suggest logging out and taking a break for a couple days if you can't handle it, but since we are in such an early stage of development I would rather give warning that this type of stuff is bound to happen sporadically throughout the development process for reasons none of us could possibly fathom. We will have times of regular updates that I'm sure won't interfere with the base gameplay, but rest assured there will be ones that will be frustrating and take time to clear up. I'm sure they have people working on this non-stop. Not everybody can work on the same problem. That is why we are also fortunate enough to get extra goodies like new weapons and walky-talkies and the like. Frequent and frustrating wipes will occur... you don't have to like it, but you will be dealing with it, I assure you.

pro tip: follow some of the developers on twiiter.. you get nice little tid-bits a lot faster than you would on the forums and help us understand some of the more frustrating aspects of this alpha phase.

Cheers!
