So I may jog on for a while....

Recommended Posts

I may head off back to World of Tanks and Football Manager 2014 for a few weeks/months and let the patches flow and then see what's what!

Before anyone screams "ALPHA", let me explain.

I don't wanna play at rambo and youtube my vids of handcuffing/torturing/mocking/killing other players. I wanna play as a survivor, meet like-minded people and build up a survivor community and protect it, like this game is gonna end up like. Thing is, its not there yet, it will come though. At the moment it feels like a race to find the best firearms, dress like a special forces solider and kill all and sundry. Thats not for me. I know some like it, that's their choice and good luck to them. I'm not knocking the game because I understand what an alpha game means. I am also not knocking any other persons playstyle, they paid their money, they play how they want. Its just the game is not what I want from it...yet!

I've tried to be a medic and help people, but I've been killed untold times doing that! Its been good fun, but newer players are very wary of someone offering help and they tend to do a Usain Bolt as soon as you talk to them :)

The in-game bugs are not bothersome as I knew there would be plenty before I paid my money, so that is not an issue. The issue is the way the game is at the moment. Its not for me at the moment, so I'll sit on the sidelines, read the forums, and have a good laugh at some of the in-game stories!

Until we meet again. Good luck and happy hunting ;)

All up to your imagination there. But I sympathize with your stance.

My last avatar lasted 5 days, same as my daily partner and the only thing we did was trekking the countryside looking for hidden landmarks. Truth be told, not that many but the whole scope of "lost" and learning the land was quite fruitful. That and the situation we encountered while helping each other through, like broken limbs, infection, sickness, human players, etc.

Wasn't killed once properly, just the odd KoS near the lighthouse and the peers, although one son of an axe tried but he ran off once he saw the a maniac with a shotgun coming on his back. Yep double is the basic team.

Salute.

You'd be surprised how many experienced players share your feelings, OP.

I've been struggling to motivate myself to play the game for some time, and the majority of it is that I simply don't enjoy interacting with 90% of the playerbase right now, and in a multiplayer game like DayZ, that does not make for a happy experience.

Give it a few months for the hyperactive children to lose interest, and come back and check in. :)

IMHO streamers are causing most of the problems. They play dayz as cod on a huge map with perma death and everyone wants to play like them. Unless they actually implement some reason not to kos it won't get any better. My personal opinion anyway.

Enjoy the tanks and football, hope you find this game more to your liking as the development comes along and the community matures a little more.

I made friends with a kid who sounded around twelve (ready for Dateline NBC jokes). Thing is he is the most mature player I've met so far; he could have shot me in the back in Balota as I had awesome gear. Instead I hear a young voice ask, "Are you friendly?"

I had my gun on my back and he had a Mosin on me. I said I try but I tend to KOS because everyone KOS's and I get tired of losing my shit.

He said he'd trust me and I didn't betray him. We split loot, took out some zombies and suddenly come under fire. He distracted the guy, but the guy combat logged and tthen ghosted to our flank, but thankfully he sucked, only injured the kid and I M4'd Mr. KOS-ghost in the back of the head.

A server hopper then got the kid a few minutes later, I killed that guy and then high tailed it out of Balota to try and meet the kid in Elektro.

That kid tried to be nice to everyone he met and was KOS'd as a Bambi 8 times. When we finally met up, I told him I'd give him sniper cover from waaaay up on the mountain overlooking Elektro, as someone I had encountered on my way to Elektro tried to close range kill me with his long range scoped Mosin at a watering hole and I panic fired and got lucky headshot.

THEN as this kid is trying to get supplies I had to snipe around 10 (yes, TEN) different geared out people who kept firing on his Bambi self. I kept ruining everyone's gear unfortunately except for one guy in the fire station who I managed to score an 800 meter headshot because he decided to stay perfectly still for 5 seconds, so the kid got really kitted out (this guy had a fully nodded M4 and FNX45 with mags for days).

This was probably the most fun I've ever had in DayZ, but it would have been MORE fun if I hadn't been forced to play it as Battlefield 3 recon-class killing everyone because they didn't want to let a new-spawn looking 12 year old live despite him saying "stop, I'm friendly!"... and considering most of the guys I took out were rolling in groups of 3 with full M4's with 837,577,382 double mags, I'd say they were pretty safe from harm, they just wanted to blast someone.

Again, play how you want. It's an Alpha and things will change. Right now there is the much incentive to team up except for having someone to talk to. And considering that loot doesn't respawn, guns are so rare on any given server and server hopping suddenly makes it easy, the easiest way to get great gear without server hopping is to shoot people who have sweet gear.

I'm assuming server hopping is still out of control because on 40 man servers, it's always mayhem in coastal cities with 30 guys all decked out like SEALs.

Yes, I ended up typing a story much longer than I meant to, sorry.

Point was, I had fun making a bright-eyed naive friend and was sad that the game still revolved around me murdering everyone we ran into because they insisted on KOS'ing, or trying to once I was in the mountains.
