cysinyard 12 Posted January 28, 2014 How much would a new M4 cost? New SKS are $199 here in canadaland. You get what you pay for, SKS is a cheaply made gun, not relatively accurate, prone to jamming. Dont get me wrong, it will be fun, but i cant see people choosing it over the M4 if you've tried both.
DeatHTaX 1217 Posted January 28, 2014 Just did a little research, because I am pumped for this gun to be in-game. The m4 is more accurate than the sks and has better range due to the 5.56mm round. However, the sks has significantly more stopping power and piercing ability (7.62x39mm). I am worried about how this will play out in-game, though. Mostly because the m4 is inaccurate as hell in dayz and if they make the sks less accurate it will barely be usable. uuuh yeah the m4 in DayZ right now is capable of dropping a zombie at like 400m lol...not that inaccurate if you ask me xD
Gekkonidae 270 Posted January 28, 2014 Whats about ruger 1022 ?nice pics here http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=220213417#207580 They are adding it. I think it will be a nice replacement for the winchester, if you've ever played the mod anyway. Decent firing rate, mid range rifle.

The Winchester did a lot of damage close up. It fired the most damaging bullets of any weapon in the mod within the first 20 meters (after the .50s were removed). I don't expect the 10/22 will do too much damage at any range.
PhillyT 554 Posted January 28, 2014 An SKS makes sense given its commonality and prevalence. They made thousands of them and they spread out pretty rapidly during and after the Vietnam era. The 7.62/39mm round is also about the most common round there is, making feeding it an easy fit.

Maybe a cheap Vietnamese knock off, but any decent copy should run like a champ, even with shit ammo. And as for choosing one over an M4, 7.62x39 hits harder than a 5.56mm. Tiger205 48 Posted January 29, 2014 I don't get why people are so buttdevastated about adding several weapon types. What would be the problem of adding an SVT-40 or any other WWII and post WWII weapon into the game after the core is finished? It's literally just a model, some textures, 3 to 5 sounds, a modified already existing config file and a new animation. They could even make modders do that kind of stuff because it's relatively easy apart from mocap animations. There is seriously no problem in adding more weapons after the core of the game is done especially since promoting variety would mean more weapon types and ammo types which means everyone wouldn't be immediately stocked up with the best gear.
