Lost character workaround....INFO

Thought I would start a constructive thread here to better keep things on topic and pass some info about this "Lost Character" stuff... Seems like many people dont use the search function or spend the extra two minutes it takes to read through a few post to gather the information before they make the 100th thread on the same topic.

 

If you have lost a Character because you switched servers : Its a known issue and there is a fix being worked on as we speak.  Please read this thread for info :

It has been discovered that many server providers have an issue that is causing their servers to have connection issues to the central hive. The DayZ "Multiplay" Servers are working just fine. As long as you stick to these servers you will not have any issues.

Also another thing you can try just kill your fresh spawn and your old character should be back. Also make sure you are picking the right server though it seems to work no matter what server. This does not work if you truly lost your character only if the server is not loading the save right. My friend and I both tried (not really bandits killed us and we noticed this happened) this and it seemed to work be nice to get more confirmation from others though.

Tried it, doesnt work. Im serious if evryone sets their filter to "multiplay" servers and plays on those your character will save... tested in at least 5 servers no issues.

Server hoster name. Confirmed to work as intended.

Just set your filter to "Multiplay" and it should work just fine. Those servers are hosted by DayZ I believe.

every time this has happened to me i do the follow with success 100% of the time.

 

1. DISCONNECT IMMEDIATELY before you sync back to the server and overwrite your old character.

 

2. go for a walk, kiss a girl, watch a movie, pull your pud... whatever. just go do something else for 15 minutes.

 

3. log in again and check if you're back. if not, back to #1 and repeat until successful.
