Get rid of the m4...and replace with period and place apropriate weapons.

Recommended Posts

They should get rid of those 10, 20 and 40 round magazines.

They should keep 20 round mags around however if they ever decide to put in a mk12 spr.

but seriously..why do they have such an enormous stockpole of m4s in the military base..i just would not expect them to use them to such a scale, if any in their military( being its a very tiny, and imaginary country with little resources in east europe) i guess i just dont imagine them having them...

Already answered.

Second, the m4 is kind of a placeholder. They'll always be in the game, but they'll be made much rarer down the line. You know, once the devs actually have some time to put more extremely detailed weapons in. Right now, there are five guns, and that's it. Once there are more civilian guns and russian guns, then they'll be made rarer, for now, they need to stay the way they are.

First of all..the m4 doesn't have any varients like many foreign guns u see, unlike some, it is patened and made almost entitely in america, secontly..i thought the UN was cooperating with the US government to end the insurgency caused by the Chernarus Military in ARMA 2...i didn't think they were involved with NATO...Maybe i heard that wrong though..didn't play much of tge campaign mode.

Actually, there was a civil war in Chernarus between (presumably) Communist insurgents, and the CDF. With the CDF trapped in zelenogorsk, the remaining Chernarussian government pleaded with NATO fir assistance. US Marines invaded Utes island, but only Force Recon special forces set foot on the mainland. I don't remember why Russia was involved.

My guess is after the war, the US stationed "Advisor" Units in the area to train the CDF.

Most likely, there was also a full US garrison at one of the mil bases.

Its evident that the CDF didn't fully re-equip between 2009-2017 (Cereal box dates 2017) and were still using soviet vehicles, and (Soon) AK-74Ms (Possibly, they just upgraded their old Ak-74s).

When shit started to hit the fan UN forces would have deployed around the world, explaining the UN berets and some of the HMMVs.

Mass panic/riots would have broken out. (Blown up cars/tanks = Molotovs/improvised explosives, not a war) And that, coupled with the zeds would have overwhelmee the Military forces. Overrun, troops would pile into helis and eventually either get shot down by gung-ho "Bandits" or run out of fuel. The remaining population would then die becuase they killed the only thing protecting them.

Anyway, thats how i see it.

Lets face it...

For me the issue isn't so much about what is realistic to find in the region. I personally find the concentration of military gear a bit off-centre. Yep, I know it's early days and there's lots to come but it did surprise me to find that the Dev team seamed to prioritise military items in their workflow. Simply from an aesthetic standpoint this military stuff isn't very interesting to look at. To put it bluntly I find it a bit dull, a bit unimaginative. They basically seem to have prioritised satisfying the old Arma players who are really into all their military replica stuff. Fair enough, buit DayZ isn;t a military simulator... or is it actually just that but dressed up as a zombie sim... Aesthetically, it looks a bit that way right now.

The trouble is, now that precedent has been set, there's going to be an uproar from those with military tastes inside the community if they try to turn away from that. If they'd started off on a more civilian, bodged together kind of setup for players to accumulate then, I think, folks would have enjoyed that new take from the start and run with it. Now, whatever happens, however rare they make this military stuff, I get the feeling it will remain at the top of everyone's list i.e. The top players look like soldiers from Arma. That, to me, is a bit of a shame. It's set a precedent.. quite a few players will now be dreaming of the day they'll get an update with an AS50... Instead of one day having the option of crafting a crossbow from a truck leaf-spring (or whatever).

M4 should be in the game, but it should be very rare and it should be hard to get it, finding m4 took me 10 minutes after spawning, plus 90% of people server hop which makes it even easier

You know, I always imagined Chernorus (a play on Belarus) as being Ukraine. Its geography actually matches sort of with the coast near odessa. Then again I'm biased on that.

edit: On topic, I'm positive the only reason the m4 is ingame is to tweak how attachments work, since the m16 chassis is pretty much synonymous with tacticool aftermarket attachments and parts.

Expect to be able to do this with AKs and plenty of other stuff. Its Alpha people, the guns that are ingame are only ingame for testing purposes. Once tweaked, all other guns are modifications of what already works. The only difference between the m4 and the ak or whatever other gun you want is a model mesh and texture. The important part is the code that makes it work.

One of the other good reasons to have m4 ingame in PMAGS (CMAGS ingame) which are 556 magazines that fit a variety of common 556 firearms. I'm pretty sure devteam intends to have the CMAGS be interchangeable for all 556 assault rifles. For this reason they needed to test their implementation. Thats why you have so much focus on them in re sizes and colors.
