lp 0 Posted January 23, 2014 Since the last patch, mosins can be customized with spray cans. We can craft differnt colored versions, like a black and a camo mosin. At the moment i found no other items, that i can modify with spray cans. What items do you like to be modifed in this way? Or do you have other ideas how items can be modifed/customized? Items i like to be modifed- clothings ( like a cheap version of camo-clothings)- backpacks- balistic helm- all kinds of masks Found this idea on reddit:http://www.reddit.com/r/dayz/comments/1vwfjx/suggestion_an_alternate_make_shift_camo_for_the/ In my opinion a great idea. liquidcactus 719 Posted January 23, 2014 I'm sure we will start seeing this sometime soon.. using cloth/rags as camo for rifles etc.. Tho using the spray paint on masks would be pretty special ! I would even use a can of hot pink on the payday mask with the US flag on it just so mine didn't have a us flag on it ^_^ Also maybe spray painting cars ?, I'm not 2 sure how something like that could work however..It would be wild if they could make it a somewhat intricate system were you actually guide the can like you are painting in windows "paint" with 5 different shades depending on how long you hold the can on an area... anyway thats all a pipedream really.. just thinking out loud I guess.... hmm I don't really know what else you could potentially spray other than weapons and vehicles.. sure throwing up a sick carnt peice on trains would be awesome but I'm sure they would just end up with DICKS... LOTS DICKS..
theArk0s 4 Posted January 24, 2014 IMO - you should, in theory, be able to paint just about every "object" in the game. Black storage box? Sure. Black canteen? Why not. Turn your entire outfit+backpack black? Go for it. Maybe leave out the ability to paint medical supplies (unless you want to ruin them) - but beyond that, you could in theory use paint as a way to change the color of just about anything. Now...is a spray-painted T-shirt going to be as nice as a "dyed" T-shirt? No, but you could still technically do it, and in the coming zombie apocalypse and it's decided lack of J.Crew outlets, it would probably be just fine. I've gotten plenty of paint on my clothes before when working around the house and it hasn't hurt them...maybe just have it slightly increase their 'damage'/wear level (e.g. go from "pristine" to "worn" or whatever) if you apply paint to something brand new. After all - it's hard to call something that's been crudely spray painted "pristine" anymore. Tagging the world, well...that's a different matter. While it would be a cool feature - I agree it's pretty clear that it would devolve pretty quickly into tatas and dongs...plus I'm sure implementing a system for the server to track all those "tags" as objects on world assets would tax the database way too much. Probably not worth it at this time, despite how cool/immersive that could ultimately become. Now they just need face-paint so you can camo-up your entire body like a soldier to match your newly-painted inventory, and we'll all be blending into the forest like Rangers/Seals in no time. fundan@gmx.de 82 Posted January 24, 2014 (edited) I like it but would also welcome downsides to it - where it makes sense. If you spray-paint high-tech, water-proof, breathable clothes/boots/backpacks they will most propably loose some of their "features"?
