louist 163 Posted January 24, 2014 This is why my plan would be to pack my back pack with supplies, grab my 30-30, 9mm and head further into the hills I already live in and camp it out for a while. Those first moments will be crucial. Have a bag packed and ready beforehand.
Admiral_69 78 Posted January 24, 2014 Well, I don't know about the looting... The buildings are EMPTY. I mean, look at the grocery store. There are only a couple of items in there. That looks looted.BUT all the doors are closed, which implies the build was never looted. Here is another thought for you. What if the Soviets and the Americans went to war, and the destroyed vehicles are remnants of that war. The civilians fled the violence, leaving very little behind. The war swept past Chenarus, leaving largely empty buildings and destroyed vehicles in its wake.Things were looking bad for the Soviets. They unleashed their final option... Virus Z.Anyways, as you can probably tell, I would love some lore to go with this game!
frosti 2165 Posted January 24, 2014 (edited) BUT all the doors are closed, which implies the build was never looted. Well doors to houses are closed but some of doors to supermarket are open. People have left their homes, took almost everything and closed the door, and looted supermarket on way. Military guys had order to move out or something, they left few things behind in a hurry and locked the doors behind them. That's mostly just for performance reasons, I guess - if you want an in-game rationale, maybe try thinking of it as a symptom of the poverty ailing Chernarus. But, again, I am under the impression that premise of this game was that it takes place just little after the "Big Z" or whatever it is called: that somehow you survive and wake up on the beach, not even knowing what has happened. Also, I used to think that "DayZ" has double meaning, "Z" standing also for day zero, the day after world ended. (Don't really know about that...)
