I just think the blood system needs to go...

Recommended Posts

The hunger/thirst/health system is actually a pretty decent simulation of how a real body works, with some abstractions. And it's very intuitive, once you get it. Eat all you can to store energy, drink to keep your fluid reserves up, and stay healthy to heal your wounds. It's not rocket science.

In theory, but not as it currently works in practice. As it is now the game encourages binge eating and drinking to the limit of vomiting as the most efficient way to stay healthy or regenerate when wounded. In reality that would be a very bad idea, not only in long term perspective, but especially in cases of being wounded, as the body would have to focus way too much energy on digestion as compared to what is needed for healing.

My problem is, in real life I feel it, I don't feel it in game and so it isn't fun. Also though in real life I can not drink for 48 hours and not eat for like a week or two, yet in game it's every frigging 5 mins, just like how my clothes seem to just fall off me every 5 mins. I jog 10 miles a day with my dog and I don't have a drink throughout that, I don't eat and when I get back, I'm not thirsty or hungry, yet in Dayz I would have had to eaten/drink like 20 times.

It isn't a fun system, it isn't realistic and it shouldn't function how it does.

The same goes for blood really as if I got shot, I'd probably die from a single bullet, either due to infection or from it hitting a major artery or organ. The least likely thing that would happen is I'd lose some blood but be fine and need a blood bag. Again if I was hit by an axe, I'd probably just die in one hit or lose a limb or something, I wouldn't be fine and need a blood bag.

I just think it's retarded to think this game is realistic, claim I'm some COD fan even though the last one I played was 2 and write my opinions off..

I like the system and believe it's the one thing that sets it apart from a lot of the other FPS out there. Without it,  this game would be just like every other FPS out there. Perhaps you should watch all of Merino's guides. Once you understand how eating/drinking works, it makes surviving much easier.

If you want a summary of what Merino says it's "eat everything you come across when you come across it and drink often." When you first spawn, make your way to a water pump and drink until you get the stuffed message. From that point on, try to drink every 20 minutes or so. If you get the Really Stuffed message, STOP eating drinking (I think now they have a stuffed indicator that is color coded.) Hope that helps

I've already explained the whole food thing to you, but did you go do it? your results speak for themselves, your bitching about a system, when given, in plain English, direct instruction on how to achieve the desired result you ignore it and bring up the same argument.  It's like sticking a fork in the power plug, getting an electric shock asking why, having it explained just to have you do it again complaining that the shock hurt's

imho your just trolling.

Funny how some things work alot better in dayz mods but are complete crap in stand alone.

Yeah, sorry, but you just made an "You do know this is an alpha, right?" post.

Its only about 10 minutes to get your full amount of blood back if your are in a "healthy" state, which you gain by eating.

Right now they're just arbitrary pointless systems designed to give you something to do as there is very little content in the game.

So perhaps the team should remain focused on implementing new features and content, rather than spending time pulling out systems they have already implemented that work fine just because you find them "annoying."

Sound like a plan, Francis?

I sincerely doubt you jog 10 miles a day. And if you do it without drinking you are a complete and utter idiot. Wait you say you do it and aren't thirsty or hungry after a 10 mile jog? LOL Ok that just proves you are flat out lying. Anyone who runs knows you would be very thirsty especially if you did not drink throughout. Please use arguments based on reality not things you just made up. I also doubt you have gone 2 weeks without eating, nor 48 hours without drinking.

As for the rest, you're doing it wrong. I am usually healthy within my first hour of playing and then I don't have to drink and eat that often and never see the thirsty and hungry messages. Clothes falling off you? Wtf are you on about?

Face it. Maybe you just suck at this game as much as you do at not jogging (yeah I really don't believe you on that one).

Nope. This is my answer. I don't see a good reason the blood system has to go. Only people that don't understand them don't want it. If you want blood packs then you have to know your character's blood type. It's easy to search on the internet for a blood compatibility chart.
