SA - Handy Video Cam -Recording- Night Vision for Civilians

Recommended Posts

I mentioned that before but i think idea lost in other topic. So night vision googles is high end military equipment and im sure main army units have reallly really less NVGs on their barracks. Also if we aretalking about ex-soviet and poor country like chernarus we can consider they have none. But theres some nato or Us bases too because m4 s everywhere that can be only explanation for NVGs on chernarus. My point is accordingly realism and logic NVGs should be extremely rare on dayz.

But game almost non playable at night time. because light mechanism is horrible. I mean someone near city see your flashlight from 2 km away. Because your light goes though walls and shit. Even if they fix that engine related bug. game still unplayable in dark so. How about handycams on dayz. ?

- Mechanics of camera.

It should be handle like flashlight i mean we must able to lower and raise camera.

If we can open and close LCD screen that would be cool

when we press optics button we should see little LCD really closer.

increase and decrease brightness of LCD screen , zoom in zoom out, NVG on off options.

LCD should spread some light that detectable close distances. ( maybe enlights cameramans face a little on very dark environments )

- Camera Record System

thats the almost coolest thing i can imagine in dayz.

so Arma 3 has picture in picture mechanism very well working. I mean mirrors and parking cameras are working very nice and give player a reason to play game first person mode.

If Arma 3 engine can handle that kind of thing maybe devs can adopt something like in dayz.

My main point is :

recording on camera should use batteries much more as usual

when player picks camera and records something according your cd key or ID  steam starts collecting video from game. ( Of course not HD not high quality ) after you press stop or dead or recording interrupts somehow.our video should be on our steam directory/folder . we can watch that video here and in game on our camera. Also like steam workshop system we can upload our in game camera footage to directly steam.

If every camera or memory stick (memory stick would be better for this ) has ID for itself when we pick a used camera from other player.  we can check memory stick and watch previous videos other player recorded. Game downloads other guys video from steam and lets us watch in game with that system.

I recommend 240p or 360p videos for this system to less video file space for uploading. And also devs gonna need nice compression format that can work together with arma engine.

For a last thoughts :

with that feature theres no limit for imagination. You can film your adventure, can make kidnap videos, experiment videos on other players ( force feeding antibacterial spray :D ), animal documentaries(with next animals), horror films related to masked pschopath slasher killers :) etc. etc etc. im sure video streamers or youtubers gonna love that idea because we already watching videos making with that mentality but watching real footage its gonna have incredible dramatic effect. :) and also need some skill to record good footage

That thing gonna give players a reason to play a reason to share and have fun. Im sure people gonna remember dayz with that feature.

If you liked this idea please leave comment discuss and share your ideas about that. If we manage to gain devs attentions they will work on this im sure.

Yeah I would like that a lot it sounds like a cool idea. There is hunting gear with NV capabilities but like you said they would be extremely uber rare, a camcorder could be a perfect alternative.

yep, as soon as I read the first bit i thought " outlast " woOo good idea

Though 1 thing I can say for sure is that dean hall himself said they want to release a "minocular" night vision hand held device as 1st night vision in the game so you may see something like this sooner than you think  ^_^

Though who could deny wanting to actually be able to capture footage on tape or disc with dv cam

Why that would be THE TITS sir  B)

yea holding a video camera for NV purpose really fun even without recording. But if devs can manage automatic record and update system in game. It gonna be priceless. :)
