z0mbie 33 Posted January 22, 2014 (edited) I gave this suggestion a while back for the mod, maybe it'll get noticed this time. The idea was to add some kind of right click option or scroll wheel option which lets you drop your backpack in front of you and save it there like a very small version of the tent. I'm not sure how long items stay on the ground at the moment but I'm guessing they disappear after a server restart. Tents aren't great for the solo player, they're big and easily spotted, would be a lot nicer to have the option of a smaller stash and perhaps limit it to 2 maybe 3 of these stashes per player. Like the box stash you implemented in the mod, except it makes more sense. Perhaps it could degrade over time too, due to it just being a pack and not designed for sitting in the mud for too long really. Also, a backpack quick release option in the scroll menu. When running from someone, drop the pack, small run speed increase to get away (assuming you'll add some kind of weight affecting speed mechanic), if they spot it they might leave you alone and investigate it. If they don't spot it, and you've managed to get away due to the slight speed increase, you can always come back later and try to find it providing some lucky survivor didn't find it first. green_machine 179 Posted January 22, 2014 This exact idea came to me also but backpacks are not waterproof like you kinda mentioned.I also figured that you could hoist a backpack into a tree with rope and have a tree-top stash
z0mbie 33 Posted January 22, 2014 (edited) I also figured that you could hoist a backpack into a tree with rope and have a tree-top stash Yeah that'd be nice, I don't think it would be possible at the moment though. I think trees are not single entities but rather "tree zones" in a way, I don't think there would be a way to determine which single tree you hoisted a stash into. Could be wrong though! n.mettala@gmail.com 5 Posted January 22, 2014 I may be wrong, but i have faint memory that somewhere was that this is coming with tents...
VirtuaStig 3 Posted January 22, 2014 Great idea, I would also like to have some gear saved up for when you get killed. Perhaps a Global inventory for each player to store some items would be a little better, and the G-Inv should only be accesable at lets say a vendor of some sort...or perhaps each player get s to create one "Stash" anywher he wants (done while in-game not from a map) and the "Stash" will remain there unless moved by the player. This would be especially helpfull for clans who recruit new players or current players after death - this will also creat new experiances as players are forced to run for more supplies. The Stash should be limited to in available slots, otherwise some players might just get too powerfull.
Vector636 30 Posted January 22, 2014 (edited) Well they are not going to have vendors and hopefully not a GI we already have one with all the public hives. I like the idea of a backpack stash, like Dave said they would be prone to getting wet. .....Nimble....quick release..... someones been playing Misery :) I agree although maybe the larger bacpacks would require a QR system item like Misery. YeBittenDog 106 Posted January 22, 2014 Great concept and I'm sure the devs have something similar in mind. Would be cool and allow "base building" (or a location used as a base) to have their supplies open for clan members or what have you. Raiding bases would have incentive other than killing players.
