First person and large backpacks

Recommended Posts

So yeah really quick, I think you should be able to look "around" your backpack while in first person. I mean in real life I can just bend (edit:) twist my upper body to the side so I can look behind me (I just tried it with a large trekking backpack ;)). So having your view blocked by your backpack in first person mode seams kinda silly.

Thats all, thanks!

In real life you can also urinate and poop on the ground and use a leaf as toilet paper.. Its an alpha mate give it time.

I know that, but this doesn't seem to be an "it's alpha" issue. I think it's more "didn't really think about it all that much".

And besides, giving feedback is what I'm here for. That's what I'm supposed to do during an alpha test. It's not like I'm crying or bitching about it. I simply made a suggestion about something that I think needs changing.

Was your IRL backpack filled? Because when I am out with my large pack (70 liters) and got 25kg+ in it, its not as easy to just turn my upper body.

So in the end you really have to turn the whole body, you know, using your legs and stuff.   The weight just forces you to keep your back relativly straight...

Just saying...

It was filled yes, and of course it's not "easy", but it's at least doable. I just think it's silly that you can't look behind you with a backpack on your back. If everybody disagrees, that's fine too ;) Wont lose any sleep about it.

I'm sure they'll get to it sometime before beta and deffinetly before release.

I think its realistic, and if you don't like it you can stick to the 25 slot pack or the 30 slot hunters pack.

Alpha is the best moment to report issues like this so what's your point?

No alpha is the best moment to report game breaking features for the few features that are implemented. We are playing an unfinshed game and testing it, not telling rocket and the team what features to add.

Not entirely true though. Alpha is for adding features and beta is for bug fixing. That's why a beta is also referred to as "feature complete". Just sayin. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Software_release_life_cycle#Alpha last sentence ;)) But I get what your saying. They have their hands full with other stuff.

But let's not go on any further about that. Point is, I made a suggestion and now the community can decide if they like it or not ;)

In real life you'd probably twist around. If you bend your upper body, the backpack moves with you. :D

But it dose not hurt to talk about these things and give suggestions, just because someone suggests something dose not mean they want it immediately. I think it could be implemented and would be interesting, anything that makes 1st person more desirable.

lol They already talked about implementing stuff like this awhile ago.

Bad choice of words on my part! :) But since you can't really twist in DayZ, there needs to be another option so that your view is not obscured by your backpack.

That's what I'm going for. I mostly play 1st person only, but the big backpack is really hampering the gameplay a bit. (for me at least)
