Now what?

Okay so I'm kinda newish in the game.  I could never find food that wasn't rotten or water anywhere.  Never found any guns or anything.  Mostly I end up dying because I can't find food or water.  I might just have bad luck to where I loot buildings or houses immediately after someone else does.  Until last night.  I find myself who knows where because I don't really know the map yet, but I'm in the huge construction place and I'm crouched and running around just checking the place out and I come across this unfortunate dead body who has one of those large orange backpacks on.  He also has a Mosin and a handgun that I see.  I immediately run over and this guy is LOADED with IV kits, blood, seringes, a compass, everything.  My heart is pounding as I transfer everything over so now I have all this stuff.  I just know there is someone else there who is going to immediately kill me before I even get a chance to gather myself.  As I go to exit the building knowing the guy who probably killed the other guy is waiting out there to kill me my computer dies which never ever happens.

 

So if everything saved and I have all this stuff still what should I do?  I don't even know how to shoot the Mosin or any other gun.  I can't even tell if the gun has bullets in it.  Can someone help me out?

watch the youtube beginner videos out there. that will help a lot. when you do find a gun + ammo, you dont want to run around without it loaded...etc...

 

im sure you can find friendly people in the game. im also pretty sure you can find a magical unicorn with shits rainbow skittles too. the more and more you play this game, the more fearful of people you will become. trust no one.

 

so learn how to protect yourself. its a fun game. it really is. but running around until you die isn't fun. so check out those videos- there's a ton and they have helped me massively.

 

i can usually find a gun in 30 mins, usually fully geared in 1 to 2 hours. once you are a threat, you can become a threat. until then, you are at the mercy of whoever sees you and thats no fun.
