List of features that would be nice to have.

Here's a list of things I think would be beneficial for everyone.

 

 

 

- "Player-name has killed you" Shows up when you die.

 

- "Player-name has knocked you out" Shows up when knocked unconscious, etc.

 

- "You have killed: Player-name" Shows up when you kill someone.

 

- "You have knocked out: Player-name" Shows up when you knock someone out.

 

- Ability to toggle on/off name-tags above FRIENDS/Group members heads ONLY, so that you know there a friend/Clan member and not some stranger that looks the same. This would not apply to anyone else, JUST the people who have you on there friend list on steam or in the same group as you.

 

- Percentages in Hunger/Thirst bars, Ex when Hunger shows up in your characters screen would say something like "Starving 5%" once it hit's 0% your die of starvation or whatever.

 

- Realistic Voice location. EX: Someone is talking in-game and they are on your right, you would here it much louder on right speaker/headphone such as 25% left 75% right, whereas if they where in-front/behind of you it would be 50% in each. As it is now they could be anywhere and you wouldn't be able to tell what direction they are.

 

- In-game statistics. How many Miles/kilometers etc ran, bullets fired, players killed, players bandaged, longest time spent alive, zombies killed, Death by zombie, death by player, Suicide, how many times you broke you legs etc.

 

- A CHOICE of where to spawn. Nothing OP, but maybe places like: Solnichniy, Dubrovka, Shakhovka. Maybe allow HEROES to spawn in Kamyshovo if they choose to? That would be a BIG way to have less bandits imo, and it's not to OP. Just saves them a 5 minute run.

 

95% of my spawns I spawn at Solnichniy, RARELY maybe 1 in 15-20 deaths I spawn somewhere else. And it's usually farther north like Nizhnoye if I do spawn somewhere else.

 

 

 

 

 

Most if not ALL of these are not op, game breaking or anything, they would just be helpful to have. Spawning is mostly a "Fix" as you can still suicide until you get a Cherno/Elektro spawn. but if you where forced to spawn in 1 of 3 places, or 4 if your a hero, it would change everything. Could also have a random option to spawn in 1 of the 3 towns randomly, or 4 if your a hero.

Apart from improving sound which is pretty obvious how do any of these things improve the game?

 

Death messages are a definite no for me, if you want to know if someones dead you should have to go up to the body and inspect it, you remove a whole element of danger with death messages.

 

With all the variety of clothing we have now and more to come there's no excuse for not being able to recognise friends, learn to communicate your actions and pay attention to what each other is wearing. Thats an essential part of learning to play the game well.

 

No need for health bars, losing colour from your screen works perfectly fine im my opinion.

 

Not a fan of ingame statistics either, especially a kill count, has the same problem as death messages. would be much better to have out of game stats with a one hour delay to prevent metagaming. though a message saying hours lived when you log in would help emphasize survival as a goal.

 

You are spawning mostly at solnichniy right now because the system is bugged, once its sorted, spawns should be a lot more random along the east coast.

And being able to choose where you spawn completely goes against the idea that dying in this game is a bad idea, the chance of spawning somewhere shitty should make people more careful, if anything the game should lock you to the first area that you spawn for a certain amount of time to cut down on suicides.

 

Finally, there is no hero bandit system and i hope there never will be, all it did was justify the shoot on sight mentality. i've had far more friendly encounters than i ever had in the mod and i think thats largely due to the bandit skins being removed.

Rockets already stated he doesn't want to have most of these suggestions in the game, firstly it's unrealistic to have you killed bob and Fred killed you it just spams the global chat which leads into another point about the percentage, rocket wants to have a very simple ui not cluttering your screen like death messages, knock out messages and percentage bars would. And if you gave players a choice of we're to spawn they would nearly all spawn in places like electro to gear up as quickly as possible. Realistic voice location would be nice but the game is alpha so be patient and wait and see what is on the horizon.

No. To all but one of these, the sound. Obviously, sound will be improved as the games development goes on. I know these ideas have been explained already, but allow me to address each point in detail:

- "Player name has killed you" - the idea of DayZ is that it is realistic. Why would we want some CoD style killfeed to show us what we already know? That we're dead? The only reason you'd want this is so that you know who to go for in your next life which completely destroys the realism anyway.

 

"Player name has knocked you out" - Exactly the same reasons as the previous point. You don't need to know who knocked you out, you just need to know that you are knocked out which is obvious from the words "You are unconscious" in the middle of the screen. If you get punched in the face, and see that message, it's pretty obvious that player has knocked you out.

 

"You have killed player name" or "You have knocked out player name" - again, no. Why would you care?

 

"Ability to display nametags for friendly" - I'm pretty sure that in a battle, in real life, you don't get the names of friendlies popup. It's not realistic so it doesn't belong.

 

"Percentages in hunger and thirst" - While a better suggestion, it just isn't realistic. Let's picture it as real life. You don't have a percentage bar and when it hits 0% you die. You just know you're hungry. Really, really hungry and begin passing out etc. I do think that the bars should be more apparent than the current system of having to open your inventory, but I don't think this is it.

 

"Ingame stats" - Maybe. But should be limited. We shouldn't have "players killed" or whatever, maybe "Bandits killed", but having a tally of players killed just encourages PvP. Maybe have ways for the player to record it himself (e.g writing on paper etc) but not automatically.

 

"Spawn choices" - No. Spawning, figuring out where you are and the best course of action to take from spawn is part of DayZ.
