DestroyerGR 2 Posted January 20, 2014 This is gonna be a HUGE text with many ideas that i have for DayZ(and discussed the on steam community)..If anybody at all reads the whole thing !!THANK YOU!!(btw sorry for my english)1.Player name One my favorite feutures of the game was the new clothing.But there was always this time that i found that friendly guy and then we went seperate ways and we met again after an hour or two and we shot each other because we didn't recognize each other.So what i thought is that when you get close to a person you get that option "tell your name" if you do the other player will see your charachter's name on top of your head.Now the further away you are from him the more transparent(Ithink i ruined the word but you know what i mean) your name becomes.Somebody even told me that if you change your appearance(say you wear a bike helmet) it becomes more transperant until it fades away into the distance.2.Dayz Ending(+Humanity) Don't rush ahead and call me a complete idiot that needs immidiate dose of disenfectant.It gets really frustrating when you don't have a map and you somehow and up an the end of the map running endless hills.What I thought is close the map around and make it an island then make the borders of the map the sea and if you get there you "beat the game".People would spawn in the middle of the map or even in the coast and try to find a way to get out of chernarus with loads of suplies and stuff like that where a score will appear of your progress.If you die on the prossess though it will still give you a score based on how long did you survived how many people you killed.This is where humanity steps in again!You don't have to know that the other guy is a bandit..just have the numbers somewhere or don't even show it at all.If you bury a body that you just found it gives you "x" humanity or if you kill a bandit(humanity<0)[basically just like the mod exept the costume change(LAME!).So lets say you die or you finish the game with a decent humanity...what will appear in your screen I imagine it like this--->Murders=2 Zombie kills=35 bodies buried=1 humanity=2000 etc you survived the apocalypse without losing you mind although you lost a piece of yourself..or if you were a hero..you suvived chernarus beiing yourself(or smthing like that)..or if you were a bandit..You survived chernarus but you list yourself in the rage(or smthing like that)3Character Backrounds[+skills..seriously i mean it..read it, you'll understand](boy this is gonna be an essay)Beacause of the reallism that DayZ offers for the hardcore guys their charachter is their representation of themselves in the apocalypse.The basic idea behind this is who/what were you before the apocalypse?So i have some basic in mind like an engeneer(occupations like that), hunter, doctor, had a regular office job, martial artist, police man ,ex military etc...Let me explain what I mean by skill to understand.So there are those bars somewhere in the UI or you even don't see them at all or anything that represent how good you are at some things(basic stuff) and get better as you use them.Repairs:after a certain number you can perform some car repairs that aren't very good(say you change a will it will eventually break down) and you do better repairs the more you make repairs and before that you can do simple stuff like repair somthng simple i dont know..(and i think that i am the only one that understood that sentance).medical:If it is very high you can transfuse blood not only to other but to yourself without fear of sickness and if it low you can't or you can with the high risk of infection..things like that for medical you understand.Firefighting:simple the bigger the number the less weapon sway you have and recoil and stuff like that.Melee combat:The bigger hte damage the more accurate your swings are and the more dmg and stuff like that.Hunting:Big number-->big loot from hunted animals small number--->you know that you are a terrible hunter why do you even bother dude?!Condition:Basically how fit you are anf if you are fit you will tire less or smthng like htat.Hope you understood the skill now back to the backrounds.Each of these occupations has it's own buffs and nefrs so as not to make the ex military OP.The engeneer for example will have a big bonus on melee and repairs and a little bit on condition but he will be really bad at all the others.Another thing about those occupations,because this is called "backround" each of the occupations has it's backround story,spawn and spawn items.If you were a doctor for example you will spawn inside an apartement with basic medical stuff like bandages and syrringes,because when everthing went to hell you stockpiled some food in your appartement and you hid there until now that you run out of water and food or something like that.I have thought many occupations and stories but you can ask me if you are actually interested in hearing them at all.4.Zombies and loot Loot is quite cool at the moment but it goes as far as dynamic location can take it.Make the scene a bit more descibing.Ok there is some blood spilled on the floor but where is the body.Now there are two options here a)He became a zombie.In this case his backback and whatever he carried is on him and you actually have to fin him to take them out off of him. b)he died there with something sharp stuck in his head and he "magically desappeared" in this case you it would be cool if you found the body with actual signs of his fight with the living dead or some survivors and his stuff are on him.more specifically about the loot is that it would be cool to find it on bodies instead of just liyng on the ground[or mabye a system like "damned" where you open capboards and stuff like that..maybe both :D ]Another thing that i would LOOOOOVE to see is when a player dies he turns randomly in "x" hours and becomes a zombie instead of just desappearing after 10 mins or restart.Another thing about zombies once there number gets big enough is hordes roaming around forests and them to be sensitive to sound(shots and stuff like that) and yes i mean voice chat too.lets say you find 2 zombies and the one is turned towards you but is further away than the other zombie that is very close what do you do you whisper in the voice chat "hey sucker over here" the zombie hears a sound and comes towards(I think this is REALLY hard to do..it just seems to me that way) then you go ahead and kill the other zombie after you killed the one you had that small converstation with.Another thing you can do with that is lure the zombies of a city out of the city just by firing a shot outside...the slowly walk towards the sound and you can go around and loot the place.cool ha?no?come on it was good...!no i am not insane!just go further down and stop complaining..!5.Map Ecxept the huge framedrops that we have in cities which I PRAY TO GOD THAT THEY WILL BE FIXED EVENTUALLY, I would like to see a more reallistic aproach on the map.Cities in the map are big...but they look like small towns compare to what cities look in real life...with a map that gets expanded enough and made an island i would like in the center of it a huge seriously huge enormous city with like 2-3 hordes inside and lots of other zombies and stuff like that.Apart from that which is out of my main point i would like buildings(enterable) like schools,prisons(i heard it's on the way),different stores(clothing and stuff like that) police stations,entertainement facilities(cinemas,sports fields) all those kinds of stuff(as Dean would say).Also doors that are locked and you either break them down or you find the zombie with the keys or smthing.(ps.stop spawnnig guns in the firestation-->ridiculus..seriously)Anyaway that was my ideas and suggestions about the DayZ I hope that even a single person on earth reads it and doesn't tell me that i ate too But I like people turning into zombies, just not this game. (( Because when you spawn you have this huge advantage over players since you have skills leveled up. byrgesen 1341 Posted January 20, 2014 My thought on this :)1:If people want you to know they're names, ask them and they will tell you or they wont :)Dont like mechanics "forcing" other people to reveal who they are tbh, it should be our choice hehe.2:I kinda like this idea, it needs some "polishing" but a hidden system like this, to give you a score, when you die, isnt to bad.Would prefer locally saved "overviews" of my character, with more details, so i can look it over, after i die, and find out what to improve next time around.BUT it has to be ONLY after death, no real time tracking of any kind, what so ever please. 3:I do not like the "class system" you propose mate, it seems to RPG'ish for DayZ.I do not want ot be tied down to a special role, because i chose a class at the game start tbh.Let people do what ever they want to do, and keep skills out of it.The only skill that should matter is how good the player is at survival (the dude behind the screen) but i would really hate to see ingame skills/classes like what you describe :)4:Im sorry if this sounds abit hard mate.But we arent fighting zombies, we are fighting infected and the only reason you are a human is because you are immune to the virus (lore dating back to the beginning of the mod)I would hate to see people turn into Z's, its just not the DayZ spirit and would go against the "lore" we have played and worked with for some years now.Zombie hordes, which roam? (as far as ive understood through the development of the mod and now SA)As much as i would like to see a big city (sky scrabers and stuff) it just would not fit the current enviorement and look of this post-soviet state.Theese people are poor and the only places we should find some remotely modern buildings, should be the current "big cities", but i doubt you will ever find something really modern anywhere on the map :)+ Chernarus is actually build, based on a real area in the world :) The Dev team have visited it several times, to take photos and to improve the map, so it looks more like that place.Ofc they added some of they're own stuff along the way, but most of it is based on real world locations (dating back to the map in Arma 2) I hope i didnt "piss to much on your parade" but this is how i feel about your suggestions mate :)Keep em comming though, you can never suggest enough tbh. DestroyerGR 2 Posted January 20, 2014 About the skills i didn't mean skyrim style..i imagined it just to simulate the how good you are on something depending on your backround so that you choose the backround that is actually you...like you didn't just learn how to repair a vehicle during the apocalypse.Also i like your ideas about the names i didn't say anything about meters or feet because i am not sure of how it would be balanced..it would be cool for your charachter to forget it after a few days of survival wouldn't it?btw YOU READ IT ALL??what the hell?!you surprise me 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
DestroyerGR 2 Posted January 20, 2014 (edited) didn't know that detail about the zombies :P btw it's not a class system as much as it seems like it..it's more of a backround that's why i wanted to emphasize that you spawn whith different items in defferent locations...the skills need thinking so as not to seem that rpgish i wouldn't like that too..it's just a base idea which i could think about and improve.the idea is like there are some stuff that you can't do because of your backround so it would encourage you to group up with someone that let's say is good at hunting..i don't intent it to be like an rpg it just comes out that way because of how unworked this idea is Edited January 20, 2014 by DestroyerGR Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
byrgesen 1341 Posted January 20, 2014 Read it all and answered all ;)I can understand what you mean with the "classes" (cant find a better word for it tbh) but i still feel like it could lock people down abit to much tbh.Ofc not everyone can repair a car, or use a IV IRL, but in this game people are kinda just forced to do it :)I have mixed feeling about it really, its both good and bad, but i am not sure of the impact it could have on the game. DestroyerGR 2 Posted January 21, 2014 (edited) i would really like a more reallistic spawn though...i never liked the beach spawn...i don't know how it good work with something else even with the backround it would be hard to if lets say you are a doctor and you spawn inside an appartement in a city filled with zeds...i don't know how to make a better spawn...maybe an interesting backstory of a shipreck or something and you wake up on the bach...i dont know...any ideas?
