Falling

Recommended Posts

I know it's alpha but...

Falling from 7-10 feet should not result in death. That is all.

It should however cause you great pain and discomfort, and depending on what you carry with you, it might infact kill you.

If I was to throw out a estimate of what my character is carrying on her person and backpack, I'd say it comes close to Eighty(80) - Ninety (90) Kilograms / 185pounds.

If I fell from an altitude of ten feet with that, I am not sure if my legs and back would be able to handle the impact.

*Sidenote

And even if I did survive the impact, the resulting scream unless I passed out would most likely attract zombies and/or people that is more then willing to put me out of my misery by bullet or teeth :P

With all the gear it might fuck you up. But i think for now the fall damage should be almost obsolete until it is set up properly.  Maybe a rolling animation would be a good addition instead.

With how you carry your weapons on your back, and not to mention the size of the backpacks, rolling in whatever way you'd imagine could lessen your impact, would most likely just break your neck.

What about a calculated jump from that height? It is doable. Weight should be a factor and I'm not discounting that but 185lbs? I highly doubt I am carrying that much maybe but doubtful.

OK for a laugh I will share my story. Last night while covering my team sweeping the tent city in the NWAF I was in a short tower. After they had finished I jumped out and died. It was the highlight of comedic circumstance surrounding the evening.

When you fall and break your legs you'll beg for death. xD

I've fallen down the stairs in the construction sites and it didn't kill me, also from the first floor of the school (where Mosins are) and that broke my legs I crawled to the nearest Z who was facing away stood and hit it, but then survival instincts kicked in and I ended up beating it to death with my baseball bat, bandaging myself, crawling some more till I found some morphine legs fixed!!

shortly after I go into a fight with a ghoster and died...

Edit: In the trailer it shows a woman killing herself why can't we do that or will the ERSB will flip the table and ban the game?

185 LBs is not ridiculous also a fall from 7-10 feet? That's is a decent drop to hurt yourself. Especially with gear, and rolling would not help whatsoever. Maybe like when you fall you brace your weight and hand onto the floor to balance your footing.  :)

I really did think this thread was about pulling unlimited parashoots out of your ass.

IRL - I jumped over a sea wall and unforunatly there was no sea. (yes i was drunk) Anyway, I broke my leg in 13 places had a plate and 12 screws and it was only about 13ft on to sand. Took 6 months untill I went back to work.

If this had happend in the dayz world I imagine I would have died within a day or two.

Gear + Body weight + Fall (7+ Feet) = Death xD   Also, the fall damage has always been like this since the Cold War Crisis days.
