I know this is rather obvious thing but I think there should be stats like:

-how many 'dayz' you survived using this character

-how many people you killed

-how many zombies you killed

 

As game is steam-based they could be tied up with steam achievements. This would give some players a 'target' while others could still play as they like

No "People killed" stat. It will only promote KoS.

I have to admit i miss the "X Days" stat, we had in the mod at login. Coz the goal of this is simply to survive as long as possible, not kill the most humans or Z's, just survive and do what you gotta do to survive hehe.
But thats about it.

The servers in the mod which had Players killed and Z's killed, usually was a giant PVP fight because of this. People would go kill as much as possible, simply to be the one who "killed the most", and that kinda broke the game abit.
Took away the focus of all the other aspects of the game :)

Stats or achievements shouldn't promote or discourage any particular play styles.
