1886 shells do not appear to be part of the regular loot table

As the title says. I've asked around, it seems people are only finding 1886 shells when they spawn next to a winchester.

I found some slugs for the Winchester in a barn (no gun) and in apartments (Cherno, no gun). I like the Winchester so I was hoping to stock up before actually finding it. Haven't found it yet, but I do have three stacks of ammo.

Though I do find the slugs for the double barrel way more then I do for the Winchester.

Yes the slugs certainly appear in areas by themselves, probably found 4-5 stashes like that on my current character, but I've also found around 3-4 winchesters and bullets too (not sure cuz I didn't loot them, I'm better equipped) This is from around 10-12 hours of play.

So coming across about 250-300 rounds of winchester shells() and 3-4 winchester rifles I would say the spawn rates are pretty good. I still wish you could break them down to 2s or 8s, as I haven't found any 8 round shells for my 870 in quite some time(2 maybe 3 hours).

I like the winchester as well.

I had to drop it on my current character because I could never find more than two packs of ammo. They do seem more rare than they used to be.

Shouldn't the other 12 gauge ammo be usable in the winchester? I have two shotguns in RL and interchange the ammo all the time.

Maybe they're keeping the ammo separate as a real Winchester 1886 doesn't accept shotgun ammo? (usually .45 caliber)

Yeah, I'm pretty sure they know that Winchester uses different ammo from shotguns so they need to keep it separate. Maybe later once they have more ammo art they'll make it look different.
