Double error message at start

Recommended Posts

I'm attempting to load up the dayZ mod from steam and get the error message "Addon 'dayz_anim' requires Addon 'CA_Dubbing_Counterattack' " then when I click ok, the game attempts to start and I'm presented with the error message " bad serial number given in Setup " someone please tell me what to do. I have tried installing the directX. I have attempted to verify the game cache for arma 2 and operation arrowhead but they both show as missing one file and it says it is restored but never does. What do I do?

For CA_Dubbing follow this:

  • Close steam
  • Start steam in admin (right click and run as administrator)
  • Right click on arma2 and properties then local files
  • Click on verify integrity of game cache <-- do it twice
  • Repeat for arma2 oa
  • run arma2 to the menu
  • run arma2 oa to the menu
  • click in expansions
  • make sure the following are enabled
  • Arma2
  • Arma2 oa
  • Arma2 baf lite
  • Arma2 pmc lite

If not enable them and restart then exit the game.  The key factor is launching to the main menu for it to resolve all the restoration issues.

If you are still getting bad serial after this follow these steps:

  • Close steam
  • Go to the start menu and type in Run followed by Regedit.
  • Search for your Arma 2 OA
  • You will see Bohemia Interactive folder and Bohemia Interactive Studio folder delete both Arma 2 OA folders in each.
  • Close
  • Run Steam as administrator
  • Go to Arma 2 OA in your library.
  • Right click
  • go to properties
  • local files tab
  • verify game cache tab.
  • Launch Game to main menu and close

Regards,
