Showing your position on map - how is it supposed to be?

On the last server my position on map was shown by a yellow circle, also my view direction. Also Z`s or Survivors (orange) in my area showed up which was pretty helpful. Yesterday i changed the server and now those signs are gone again. I mean this is a big advantage and i wanna know how this should be in the final version?

I prefer to show nothing.

It depends on server settings.

 

Some servers shows your position and other players position on map, and some have it disabled.

That is not how the map is suposed to be like.

 

In arma2 there that sort of thing but in the dayz mod and SA the map will not show player locations

 

 

But some servers can keep it on from arma 2

IRL do you have a circle on a map showing where you are? No. (except in shopping centres). If you're in a shopping centre in Chernarus, maybe you should get a circle showing your position :)

Yep, that's a carryover from ArmA rookie settings.

 

Obviously, the only thing that should show your position is a GPS, but even then seeing zeds and other players would be total garbage. Some people just shouldn't have servers lol.

I believe this was a feature in the mod for some time, if you'd acquired a compass and a map some servers would show your position.

 

Don't think it's supposed to show up in any way in the Standalone though, which I like all the better - I love keeping track of where I am using the sun / sea as a compass.
