The 'Ban Appeals' Forum

Recommended Posts

Is not really much of an appeals forum as it stands... Couldn't it just as simply be re-named to the 'Flame against Banned Users' Forum? Mostly, the threads seem to be used to scoff and jeer at the user that has been banned, whether he has presented evidence or not.

Iv'e not looked at that forum section in ages. But I don't recall much evidence being presented.

those banned as "BattleEye Global Ban" are not banned here on DayZ, they are banned as convicted arma hackers by BattleEye and should complain at http://www.battleye.com/support.html

dayz staff had rough time defending their servers from those hackers who almost destroyed whole dayz project and the community. you personally are not pissed, that it could happen that you wouldnt be able to play dayz today, because some hackers destroyed it? well, thats basicaly why is everybody pissed.

there is no need to post evidence, they are 100% sure. and who disagree can appeal at http://www.battleye.com/support.html

I meant I never recalled seeing the people "appealing" producing any evidence to back up their case. Only "I picked up a hacked gun, but never hacked it in myself". In response to the op who said they were flamed even if they produced evidence.

Wait, so if you pick up a gun that isn't in the mod, you're considered a cheater?

Edit: This concerns me, because some server owners like to have events with weapon loadouts, etc (which I certainly am not against) and I've seen weapons that I don't think are in this mod on many people.

No that's not the case. That's just the lame excuse people come up with when they get caught by battle eye.

Rocket has said many times you don't get banned from picking up a hacked in item. You get baned when BE detects the stuff on your PC that spawned the item in the first place.

Dayz server owners holding events with non standard weapon loadouts while playing dayz mod ? You sure ?

Um.... I'm not sure why all of these complaints about bans/global bans/the individuals who have received said bans are suddenly here. I only made this thread to have a discussion about the actual purpose of the 'Ban Appeals' thread.

Well that's how discussions go. Sometimes to explore an answer you must expand the question.

I've seen a few of them that actually make the forum worthwhile. An example being the guy who got banned from Seattle 58 for raiding an admin camp, and he had footage as proof, he ultimately was unbanned and is now playing again.

And this is the point I'm trying to make. Personally, I think it would be better if a ban appeal thread was restricted to the person appealing the ban and the administrator of the server that issued it. As it is, it's just turned into one giant area where the worst of the forum users spend a good deal of time insulting the banned users. Whether or not they deserve it is not something I'm going to comment on, but I do feel that there should be at least some restraint, should there not?

Haha, haven't seen this forum area yet, but yeah it seems that banned users supply easy targets for sexually frustrated adolescents to flame. I'm having to deal with a lot of mindless nonsense myself right now trying to support a banned friend.

So would you prefer it if the ban appeals threads were locked to the banned used and the admin of the server he's banned from? I'm considering making this into a poll...

Certainly not a bad idea, although they should also be able to allow in representatives, such as myself, in case they are pretty new to the game and don't know the terminology/aren't native English speakers/other reasons they might need a third party to help.

I loved DayZ until I had to deal with its 'community'. It is the polar opposite of what I know of the ArmA community, really an ugly bunch (probably not the majority, but unfortunately the loud-mouthed arses drown out all the reasonable voices).
