Whats your FPS and rig set up?

Recommended Posts

Just wondering what kind of FPS you guys are getting, and what your set up is.  I am assuming with this being an alpha, most people will know this info off the top of their head, as alpha players are usually dedicated gamers. However, just in case.  There are many programs to measure your FPS, fraps is one, razor game booster is another.

To get your computer specs, you can either go to www.canirunit.com and pick dayz.  Not only will it tell you your specs, but also give you a comparison as to where you are at on running the game.

Or another option, is start menu, type in  "dxdiag" without the ".   Ill start:

OS: Windows 7 home premium

Processor: AMD A6-3620 (4 CPU's)  2.2ghz

Ram: 8MB

Video: geforce 9800GT (old school i know)

FPS in cities (on the roads): 9-15

FPS inside a building: 15-35 pending on detail of building

FPS in the woods/fields 15-22

FPS while staring at the sky: upwards of 50+

I play on "custom" video settings, basically normal, with clouds, and shadows off.

reason for asking this, is I have a new setup coming early this week, and wanna know what I can expect.

Why do you run Object Detial on Very Low? I'm pretty sure your rig can handle it.

I'm so lazy though.....;-; I get like 15-30 FPS in cities, anywhere else I get above 35-100 FPS. Forgot to mention everything is on Max.

Edit: I am finally not lazy so my setup is down below this. :P

GPU: EVGA Nvidia GTX 780 Ti Superclocked Reference

CPU: Intel i7-4770K @ stock clock (Liquid cooled)

MB: ASUS Z87 Deluxe

HDD: WD 300GB 10k RPM VelociRaptor (Bootup and main use), 120 Kingston HyperX SSD (Storage), 160 GB WD Black 7200 RPM (Storage), WD 1TB 7200 RPM (Storage)

Current System:

Intel i5-4670k @ 4.4GHz

ASUS Z87-A Mobo

8 GB Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz RAM

EVGA GeForce GTX 760 Dual SC with ACX Cooler (factory OC for now)
Running from a Kingston KyperX 3K 240GB SSD

Win7 HP 64 Bit

I'm usually around 35-45 FPS at any given time running at 1920x1080 with my settings mixed between levels (don't know off the top of my head). Will be rechecking when I play with my GPU speeds. I use Fraps for FPS.

Core 2 Quad @ 2,83Ghz

8Gb Kingston @ 1066Mhz

GTX 670

Running DayZ from normal HDD

FPS in cities (on the roads): ~14-18

FPS inside a building: ~15-18 depending where on the map and which server

FPS in the woods/fields ~30-35

FPS while staring at the sky: ~60

dayZ at 1920x1080, everythin on normal, clouds, shadows on very high, FXAA postprocess high, antialias off, textures low.

edit: There is literally absolutely no change in fps for the better if I turn down any of the options. Max +5 fps ^^ with everything on "unplayable 90's shit"

Games using the Arma engine are well known for poor performance. Just a heads up to newer players.

i7 3970x @ 4.20

EVGA GTX 780 OC

16bg Corsair Vengeance

Game is run off 128gb Corsair SSD

For the following, all settings less post processing are at absolute max levels across the board.

60fps (monitor refresh rate is the bottleneck here) fluid on <50 ping servers.

45fps with FRAPS running. So basically same I get with the mod, with Standalone being generally more stable.

One issue is that the game crashes randomly if I am using Skype. I am sure some players would love that 'feature' but would love to hear from anyone else who has had that problem and found a solution.

Why do you run Object Detial on Very Low? I'm pretty sure your rig can handle it.

All it affects is the amount of grass rendered and it eats a fair few FPS. I'm happy with my current performance and post-process, ambient occlusion and object detail (in that order IMO) are the first things that you should drop if you want to improve performance without affecting aesthetics too much.

Really? :S

Dropping ambient occlusion alone from "very high" to "disabled" is an instant 15 FPS boost.

Like the other thread full of specs and performance, we can draw the same conclusion:

Given a half decent GPU, your graphics performance in RV engined games depends on brute CPU power. 4 cores at 4GHz or better to hold 30 FPS in cities.
