andrestor 78 Posted January 19, 2014 As far as the condition system is, only weapons are affected by being ruined in terms of accuracy and sights. But clothing, food and other items aren't affected. As far as it goes, a Ruined item practically means it's now worthless; in that case misc items should reflect that. Some examples of this are:- Ruined Backpack should have much less slots than pristine, if not any.- Ruined clothing should impair movement- Ruined cans and bottles should have a very little amount of content when opened, like 10% or 5%- Ruined tools should be very inefficient/unusable And so for the restAlso this should be gradual for each condition step. Etherimp 1323 Posted January 19, 2014 Ruined clothing looks like shit, so cosmetically there is a disadvantage, but otherwise you're correct. I like the idea of backpacks losing slots when they are damaged/ruined. Scopes have cracks in them (except long range scope, which I assume is a bug). I don't believe magazines can be fired from when ruined, so there's that. Saline, Bloodbags, and other medical supplies should have a chance of failing/falling out/causing infection... Damaged bandages and rags should take longer to use, or have a chance of failing (and destroying the item in the process).. Damaged food items should have lower % of food/calories in them.. Damaged water containers should lose water over time, or be completely unable to contain water depending on how damaged they are.. (ruined = unable to hold water.. badly damaged = fast leak, damaged = slow leak, worn = no leak.) Damaged Melee weapons should do less damage. IE - Axes are duller, bats and crowbars are unwieldy and thus more difficult to get a proper swing with.. Ammo should have the possibility of jamming, backfiring, or just not working.. It's already been stated that shoes are going to wear down and eventually become ruined, which will cause you to take damage to your feet when running.. Tools like screwdrivers, wrenches, and hammers should stop functioning (when doing repairs, etc) Flashlights/headtorches should have cracks in them, and flicker on and off occasionally, until eventually failing. chris90 54 Posted January 19, 2014 (edited) iam almost positive that you can use ruined items cuz its not implemented yet.also there are bugs to change the status from ruined to pristine. but i dont think that this is on their priority-list so we have to wait a bit longer i guess Edited January 19, 2014 by chris90
soulfirez 901 Posted January 19, 2014 I believe they have a system like what you are wanting coming just not implemented yet . Where cloths that are badly damaged ruined will loose items when you run etc. (from falling out of torn pockets. May make looting more interesting when ya start scanning the well travelled paths for lost loot...
Flickerx 0 Posted January 19, 2014 Be careful what you store in the pockets of your ruined clothes :)))Scenario - You and a squad of 4 friends (5 total) are lightly jogging towards the NW airfield but you're too far away to feel any threat or to be fully alert. Your name is "Sam Johnson" (one of the 5 squad) Nicknamed "Specter" cause of your great tactical and perception skills. You can hear birds chirping in the background, and wind rustling branches of trees. The squad decides it would be best if you take point and the rest of the squad form in a square behind you, covering NW - SW - SE - and NE sides while you're facing north. You all recently stopped to replenish your thirst and hunger levels, because the squad suffered a few injuries in a firefight after which you can still hear the shots setting off a couple of "Clicks" South of your location and the ringing in your ears. The wind feels rough and dry, you can feel it penetrate your war torn hoodie, you know its in poor condition but you press forward. Suddenly ! You hear what it seemed to sound like a gun-shot except it didn't make an Eco, its was like the sound had been cut-off half way and soon after all you could feel was pain in your ears and surging heat at your back. The next thing you know you were in the air, smoke shrouded your sight but you could just about notice streams of mud and stones passing by right before loosing consciousness. you wake up a few moments after what seemed to be a nightmare only to find out it was true. You look up hoping to get your bearings, no longer hearing the chirping of birds nor the rustling of trees. You remember your squad, you start calling out at their names, unable to even hear yourself speak. You realize that the dripping sensation coming from your ears is your blood. Your neck and spine feels like its been ripped out and shoved back in again and are unable to keep your head steady. You turn around and glance at the distance, unable to focus, seeing the once beautiful field of wheat that you and your squad were crossing, for some yet unknown reason it was burning (which is bullsh*t cause flame throwers aren't in yet). You lose control of your head as it flops down, chin hitting your chest. Your eyes burst wide open out of fear and shock. Your eyes tier up as you witness the unrecognizable, torn and mangled bodies of your comrades spread out in trails of red painting a horrific picture. You reach in the pocket of your hoodie for some water to wash your blood and dirt covered face because you dont believe what just happened ! Youre unable to find the bottle of water you were looking for, but something has pricked your finger. The item seems to be caught in the threads of your torn hoodie but you managed to force it out. Your vision is still blury but you are able to feel the shape of that item, your hands start to shake erratically and uncontrollably, you break down crying because now remember what there once was in that exact pocket. Plan_B 82 Posted January 19, 2014 You should randomly drop things on the ground when you backpack is ruined.
Bruce of Wayne 81 Posted January 19, 2014 Scopes have cracks in them (except long range scope, which I assume is a bug). That may be intentional, as it would possibly be bad to have cracks since that scope takes up the screen (at least the devs may think its bad). But, what we do have for it is more interesting. The worse the condition, the more the crosshair is off (it shoots to the lest of the reticule).
fitzee 248 Posted January 19, 2014 Sigh. You mean that, other than weapons, there's no real reason to search out pristine gear yet? Damn alphers lol. Regards.
