crazykage 1063 Posted January 18, 2014 I don't always play a medic, but when I do, I would like other players to be able to distinguish me from every other milspec kitted person in the game. Maybe either an item you actually find, like a helmet with a red cross on it, or a vest of some sort? (potential for abuse by evil doctors who perform medical experiments on hapless victims. Not that its an invalid choice of play style....) OR! Something that is earned by carrying a certain amount of medical loot (maybe a points value system for different items?), which causes a helmet/vest/helmet and vest to be worn by your character (which would offer the same protection as other helmets or vests). All of which is negated if you carry a firearm larger than a handgun? Thoughts?
DevilDog (DayZ) 455 Posted January 18, 2014 Option A yes 100%. Option 2 no 100%. Also they could add the squads.xml file again so we can wear our own logos.

All of which is negated if you carry a firearm larger than a handgun?Thoughts? Option number two: No and NO! I hope they never put a system in to the game that let you "earn" stuff based on how you play. DayZ is not about that, and the risk of betrayal and getting fooled should always be a part of the game. That counts for medics as well. I think that medical outfits like a white dress with a red cross on front and back, e medical backpack perhaps with same design could also be a good idea. They should be spawned in the hospitals, but i also think that everyone must be able to walk in and get one. Regardless if you are a bandit or a actual medic. The risk of someone tricking you would always be a highly likely scenario in a real life apocalypse situation, and that must be the case in DayZ also. Thats my opinion
Korsbaek 1778 Posted January 18, 2014 The first one is okay. It can be abused but that's alright :D
nms886 6 Posted January 18, 2014 I hope they never put a system in to the game that let you "earn" stuff based on how you play. DayZ is not about that, and the risk of betrayal and getting fooled should always be a part of the game. They Already have this in the mod for Survivors, Hero's, and Bandits and its called your humanity score - http://dayz.gamepedia.com/Humanity . So to say you hope they never put that in is ridiculous because its already in. I'm pretty sure the plan is to port everything over from the mod and the humanity system is probably one of the coolest things that they can port over. Taking that one step further and detecting if your a medic is an amazing idea and i hope they look at this suggestion. Though i don't think it should be based upon what you have in your inventory it should be a derivative of the already implemented humanity system where it is based off of what you have done. Also for your information this is in the mod and will be probably included as it is part of the humanity system, "When one looks at a bandit at close range, a heartbeat should be audible; the faster and louder the heartbeat, the more murders the bandit has committed recently."
bummel313 12 Posted January 18, 2014 what we really need is stuff like armleds (dont know if its the right word in english), you can craft yourself.Maybe tear them from t-shirts as you do it with rags. So you can to yourself your own medic batch or different colours for groups to recognize each other....
Guest Posted January 18, 2014 I like the first idea, as it can be manipulated by false medics, or picked up as loot from a dead medic!
knifeparty 109 Posted January 20, 2014 It would be cool to use the spray paint loot to be able to put red crosses on things like your helmet, shirt and pack. I think that would be better than having random medic spawns, because you would have to do something intentional to pose as a medic, whether your intentions are good or bad. If there was just random medic clothes around, you would have people that could be neither running around in medic gear.... it would be a detriment to the intent of having it in game in the first place. ghua 44 Posted January 20, 2014 option 1 - yesoption2 - no Keep in mind that some players may not see red cross, they may see a TARGET ;)
- Karma - 75 Posted February 3, 2014 I think what I would do is put in some kind of bright red hat with the red cross logo or something like that. I was looking into this just today as a possible suggestion, and it sounds like every modern army in the world has either removed it or is removing it. I didn't quite get exactly when it happened, but some sites were talking about how enemies started targeting medics specifically - likely the war on terror, but wouldn't be surprised if this went waaaaay back. The point is, post WWII it started getting phased out I guess. So no mili-spec gear, but humanitarian aid type uni's I think would be fine.
dallas 5195 Posted February 3, 2014 How about a bigass army green duffle bag with a small red cross on each side. But the inventory slots are only three wide and 12-15 high, making it perfect for medic kits or boxes, but not suitable for weapons. Or maybe only medical supplies can fit into it. If you want to carry ammo, you're limited to pockets, pants and chest rigs. Something like State of Decay's duffle bags, but with a red cross.
ZedsDeadBaby 2287 Posted February 3, 2014 (edited) an item you actually find Yes. Something that is earned No. potential for abuse by evil doctors who perform medical experiments on hapless victims. Not that its an invalid choice of play style.... Which is exactly why it shouldn't be artificially prevented by having goofy "earned" clothing. They Already have this in the mod for Survivors, Hero's, and Bandits and its called your humanity score Okay. This isn't the mod. So to say you hope they never put that in is ridiculous because its already in. No, it's very obviously not in. I'm pretty sure the plan is to port everything over from the mod That's not the plan. Also for your information this is in the mod and will be probably included as it is part of the humanity system, "When one looks at a bandit at close range, a heartbeat should be audible; the faster and louder the heartbeat, the more murders the bandit has committed recently." Your information is dated and inaccurate. Edited February 3, 2014 by ZedsDeadBaby
