stielhandgranate 480 Posted January 18, 2014 Anyone in the military can tell you that M4A1s are very uncommon. Most rank and file personnel will be issued a M4. I know the equipment in the game leads to think Operators in the area that would have an M4A1, how ever I think it would be better suiting to the M4A1 have the rarity of a undamaged optic or press vest. M4s, have the settings Safe-Semi-Burst, while M4s have the settings Safe-Semi-Auto.

SFRGaming 718 Posted January 18, 2014 It's Chernarus, post soviet state, there shouldn't be any M4s or M4A1 to begin with.M4 variants are sold and distributed all across the globe.Anyone in the military can tell you that M4A1s are very uncommon. Most rank and file personnel will be issued a M4. M4s, have the settings Safe-Semi-Burst, while M4s have the settings Safe-Semi-Auto.Why would you do this? M4s, having the A2 uppers, have terrible semi-auto trigger pull. The M4A1 we have has an A4 upper with a M16A1 selector. This gives it a much much smoother semi-auto trigger pull and full-auto. This "ultra-realism" is getting a bit out of hand. Who cares if they would find more M4 models versus its much better performing M4A1 counterpart.

Who cares if they would find more M4 models versus its much better performing M4A1 counterpart. M4s are not M16A2 uppers. M16A2s have a fixed handguard on the upper and a rifle length barrel. The M16A4 upper has a flattop upper but a rifle length barrel as well. The mod had M4s and M4A1s and its a cheap way to add more content. One model may be better, but the other is more common. This also makes the M4A1 a higher value, and something to covet over a M4. Little things like this will help the gaming experiance.

SaveMeJebus 164 Posted January 18, 2014 Wtf does the upper have to do with any sort of trigger pull? ... all the trigger components are in the lower.
naloxone 0 Posted January 18, 2014 M4's and M4A1's both come with a railed A3 upper receiver. There were only a few thousand M4's that shipped with the A2 carry handle upper early in carbine program. The upper does not have any effect on the trigger, but the burst fire mechanism in the M4's Safe-Semi-Burst trigger is complicated, more susceptible to fouling, and produces a more mechanical, uneven trigger pull in all modes of fire compared to the simpler Safe-Semi-Full Auto trigger in the M4A1. Fortunately, the Army has finally realized this and phase 1 of the M4 PIP which includes an upgrade of all M4's to the A1 variant is ongoing with scheduled completion in 2017. Capo 323 Posted January 18, 2014 Sorry, I thought this was the suggestions forum. lately it's the "poor suggestions forum". as far as i can tell, the only difference you've pointed out between the m4 and the m4a1 is the full auto and burst options. while realistically i'm sure there's more to it, in game is basically the only difference gonna be burst/auto? I'm sorry I would like to see more content in the game where the devs are pushing realism. The fact is that hving similar items with different values adds more depth in the game. The fact is that hving similar items with different values adds more depth in the game. well, yes. But why an m4 over an m16a4? Basically what you're asking for the exact same weapon with a burstfire mode instead of auto, at least as far as the games concerned, so i don't see why you couldn't make it a little more interesting. King of kong 1117 Posted January 19, 2014 M4s/M4A1s do have some reasons to spawn in the Republic of Chernarus. The USMC were helping the Chernarus Defence Forces fight insurgents in the mountains
wolfstriked 143 Posted January 19, 2014 Chenarus is where the virus first took hold.Americans sent troops to help out so thats why there are military bases that have M4A1's.

Zer0HD2 (DayZ) 40 Posted January 19, 2014 M4s, have the settings Safe-Semi-Burst, while M4s have the settings Safe-Semi-Auto. I think you meant M4A1 on one of those...?
morrow 19 Posted January 19, 2014 (edited) Wtf does the upper have to do with any sort of trigger pull? ... all the trigger components are in the lower.See this is right spring/hammer/selector switch knob is all on the lower having nothing to do with trigger pull. The springs in the lower are the only thing having to do with trigger pull. Edited January 19, 2014 by Morrow
