Playing a different character on the same computer

Hi guys, me and my brother both have steam, and he has dayZ installed on his pc which he bought through steam. If I were to buy dayZ on my steam account, would this allow me to play as a different character and not affect his game/character??

Yes. Your DayZ character is tied directly to your steam account/name. The upcoming patch allows for changing names in game, but would still be tied to your account, and your unique steam ID.

As long as you always switch Steam-Accounts before playing you can have separate characters each bound to the account (effectively bound to the CD-Key)

sorry for bringing this up again, but it seems since the update that i can no longer do this? is anyone else experiencing the same or have a way around it?

Currently, Hardcore servers and Regular servers have separate character slots. (works that way for me, at least.)
