Out in the open, but can hear gulping and chewing...

Recommended Posts

So Im running north(ish) and am in a field, but can see a few houses in the distance. Then I start hearing the sounds through my headset of someone munching food and guzzling a can of soda very loudly, and I check all around me, but can see no-one. I check the houses nobody around then I continue my journey. So what I am basically asking is- how close does another player have to be to hear them eating and drinking?

It's a known issue related to the network bubble. Most sounds are currently placeholders as well. Even rabbits make zombie sounds ;)

If you want to hear them eating or drinking I think they should be in 15-10 Meters to you. Talking is 50Meters.

By the way, eating or drinking will sound totally different then the sounds you are hearing when nobody is around, They will be much clearer and louder, other sounds are just ambient ones. Gates, sodas, cans, combining ETC. (( They might not be ambient, someone told me that you can hear those sounds when a player in the server actually does that action ))

Your not alone........

Zombie noises travel with you it seems. In a small town, eating and drinking can be heard well over 30clicks away it seems. There's times when I'll be across a field in the tree line of a town, I'll hear someone crack a soda can. I hit the dirt, bring my scope up, and wait. Few moments later, someone always moves in the town.

I wonder if it's a defense mechanism to stop them getting eaten - "Hey I'm one of you guys"?

I'm hearing coughing sounds also, quite surreal a visit from the Great God Pan?
