Rare high powered weapons

Reduce the High Powered weapons found. Add more melee weapons and handguns. I think this would make situations more interesting.

This topic is pretty obsolete considering there isnt a single high-powered weapon in the game.

I personally feel like semi automatic assault rifles are pretty powerful.

 

I think what OP is getting at is something that a lot of folks have mentioned in the past. Less high grade military gear and more civilian/commoner weaponry. 

 

I think once the game is opened up for modding and private hives, there will be some really interesting servers that control the loot in very interesting ways. I'm not sure how BIS plans on changing the loot tables as we move forward. I remember one of the developers stating in the past that magazines and ammo were going to be "super" rare. Obviously that is not the case currently, but as they add more features and items I can see those materials becoming increasingly hard to come by. I, like many, think this would be a good thing. Anything that makes the game more of a survival simulator and less of a military simulator is great in my opinion.

How are you going to make high powered weapons rare? Spawn points are fixed anyway so it's just a matter of time before pretty much everyone will know where to find them. Making them inaccessible will only extend the gap between rich and the poor, it's fine as they are. If you need them just go to the airport.

Interesting OP, it really is a fundemental point which chooses the destination this game is headed towards - Is it going to be just another FPS frag-fest, or a nitty-gritty game about genuine survival.

Making them inaccessible will only extend the gap between rich and the poor, it's fine as they are. If you need them just go to the airport.

 

Lower the spawnrate and make them spawn only in a bunch of buildings. And one point of DayZ is that some have better equip than others. It wouldnt make any sense if everyone could run around with an M4.

Exactly what I am getting at. If your going to do post apocalyptic survival simulator. Make sure you nail it right.

Thats, what I am saying it makes sense to do it this way. Other wise its another fps.

But seriously, this is an alpha, the reason you see so many M4's lying around is because we're testing the game and its early weapons, this does not reflect the way spawns will be handled in release. 

An M4 is an "Assault weapon" not a "high powered rifle". That would be something like a Beretta .50cal.
