mark.scales@blueyonder.co.uk 3 Posted January 17, 2014 Just an idea to satisfy the whole community (well those carebare's really :) ) Character security status -10 to +10 (you would start neutral) Based on PvP action, this would go up or down depending on who you kill i.e. if they are lower than you, you would get a boost (to too sure how you would show this unless tags are used ewwww) maybe only show tags when you are within like 10 meters line of sight dunno!!! also killing zombies would be a way to work your way up from -10 (bad ass bandit) to +10 uber carebare PvP / PvE area's allow some PvE towns these would hold only basic loot food / water and only a few, very few zombies with everywhere else PvP which holds better loot, rare items and more zombies. The PvE area's would then only allow people of a xx security status in them, if they were to enter a PvE area then UBER massive zeds would spawn and kill them. Probs needs more thought... just an idea
Muzzah 0 Posted January 17, 2014 As an Eve-O player i am familiar with the system you talk about, but i feel this would be completely immersion breaking. you can only truely decern if someone is friendly if they dont kill you, and i think the paranoia from not knowing is part of the charm of this game. The system works perfectly within Eve but in DayZ it kind of defeats the point. Eve isn't a survival game as such whereas DayZ is basically a Darwinian simulator of sorts. Khad (DayZ) 293 Posted January 17, 2014 So my character can smell, who shot how many other players before I've ran into him? I like the Idea of Safe- or PvE- Zones though. But this is something, the private-hive-admins have to implement by themselves one day. You could implement extremely strong soldier-npcs, which kill you, if you fire a shot in a safezone for example.
byrgesen 1341 Posted January 17, 2014 Naah, whats the point of having a system like that in DayZ?You should never be able to "see other players intentions" in any shape or form, what so ever. Thats the best part of the game and that is what brings the tension to the game :) So my character can smell, who shot how many other players before I've ran into him? You could implement extremely strong soldier-npcs, which kill you, if you fire a shot in a safezone for example. TBH Safe- and PVE-zones should be created and maintained by players, not NPC's.Its the only way to make it dynamic and trust me this will happen on some servers. We did it in the mod, had a refugee camp, with no killing rules, but people still came to fuck things up.So we where about 10 guys, protecting this refugee camp, gathering supplies for it and hunting away bandits, who tryed to take it or simply kill us.That is better then any kind of NPC, we can ever hope to get :)
