louist 163 Posted February 12, 2014 (edited) We usually run a group with at least one of us with a Mosin. I think it makes the game more realistic having a spotting sniper on a hill and a bunch of soldiers/grunts going in and clearing out rooms. It's a lot better than the mod when you carry like 6 machine guns/rifles in your bag. So unrealistic. With an alice pack in the mod, you can carry two rifles in your bag. That is not at all unrealistic. If anything, the inventory system in the mod was more realistic, in that any time you wanted something from your backpack, you had to crouch down and go through the clunky menus to get it out. The hot bar system in SA, while convenient, is not at all realistic. Pulling a bandage out of a medkit, which is itself inside my crammed backpack, in less than a second is in no way realistic. doctorwhy 157 Posted February 12, 2014 I think you should be able to break down the M4 into it's pieces to carry around. No you couldn't quickly pull it out and murder somebody but you could hide and take the time to put it back together again. You can saw (Not sawn) off the shot gun and put it in your backpack and have the other weapon at the ready very quickly form the quick actions bar. darthbane67 92 Posted February 12, 2014 Oh, so there's not really any logical explanation for it other than balancing? Is it just that other people should know that you're armed?Well, I would have to agree, either have the option to fit both or neither. How is game balance not a logical enough reason for them to not allow rifles in backpacks?!?! I look at it like this an axe is WAY easier to take out of my back back than a rifle. I can just leave my pack open enough so the handle is some what sticking out just enough for the axe head to be easily pulled out in times of quick use. The rifle not so much since the stupid magazine (depending on the size) needs more room to leave my pack. Which would me my pack is to open and would just mean loosing my goods as I go. Now if I can put my rifle in the back pack with no magazine that would be legit. Want to hide a gun in you pack put the sawed off in there fits perfectly and is good in close quarters which most of your OH SHIT firefights will be. It is a video game YOU imagine or RP the rules to fit better to your liking not the other way around.
TEST_SUBJECT_83 465 Posted February 12, 2014 As long as you have to stop and pull it out. No hotbar with backpacked weapons.I really hope they add an animation that shows you taking off you backpack when you hit "tab"in the future, and you should have to wait for the animation to end before your inventory screen shows up.Just my opinion.

At least with out some animation/delay. Retrieving an item from your backpack, weapon or not, should require some time. Keep the hotbar for items in pockets/tactical vests and weapons slung over your shoulder. You know, things you would keep at hand exactly because you want immediate access to them.
rickenbacker 190 Posted February 12, 2014 How exactly would this be a problem once you put the safety on?Or perhaps you could simply take out the magazine and chambered round. If we're talking plausibility and/or realism here, no one in their right mind would put a loaded weapon in a back pack, safety or not. Hell, you shouldn't even put down a loaded weapon, ever. Holster it or make it safe before you put it away.
Ovomaltine 30 Posted February 13, 2014 a disassembled (!!!) m4 should fit in taloon, mountain and the hunter any rifle (m4 assembled, mosin, longbarrel shotgun, etc.) should fit into the mountain backpack.hell, do somehow remove the possibility to carry 2 weapons with the "weapon in hand trick" and make it like this.then for taking a weapon into the hand... or even make it general... +10 seconds if u take something out of your backpack.i mean, why do i have easy access vests and pants and holsters. when i can just pick anything out of a backpack with no delay. problem solved. EASY. THANK ME LATER!!!
Rudette 435 Posted February 13, 2014 Because the M4 is ugly, bad, and you should feel bad for using it!Didn't your mother ever teach you that image is everything?!I like rick's animation idea. It would also be neat to have holsters and such maybe increase your draw speed since it makes your sidearm visible to your foe.
MagneticToast 102 Posted February 13, 2014 I think it would be fine if the backpacks inventory space was more vertical, you could rotate more items and the weapons took up more space in the bag only. I really loved that thread I saw a few days ago though talking about making inventory items have their own pockets and spaces though. Would work a lot better. DMentMan 707 Posted February 13, 2014 "Balanced game play" Whatever, I think that's stupid and unrealistic. Either we can fit both in the backpack, or none.this is the best answer.
