phamilton82 9 Posted January 16, 2014 So I just fixed my computer and I conveniently hear that the DayZ Standalone is out. AWESOME! One question now, how do I get it? :\ Is it as simple as downloading it from Steam, installing it, and playing it? Thanks guys and sorry for the silly question

phamilton82 9 Posted January 16, 2014 most rational question i read today. beans. Haha thanks for the beans. I'm just starting out with the game do you think I should stick to servers with limited people or jump right in to 40+ people servers?

Shogun_1 3 Posted January 16, 2014 OP must be Canadian. Not cool, I`m a Canadian and DL`d it fine... :p @phamilton - Loving it. I get the heebie jeebies playing... USP, Grade A, unadulterated, concentrated doses of paranoia and primal fear (especially since my first log in was at night...). Haven`t had that special feeling in a game for a long time... A long time.
Lorax 99 Posted January 16, 2014 I would maybe get on a server with 15-20 people. The reason is loot only spawns at server restarts so it will be hard for you to find enough food to get off the coast safely. You definitely want to look up nutirtional information on the forum, just search for it and you'll be able to find what you need. Because you are "tired" only means you're hungry or thirsty. Other than that have fun exploring and figuring the game out :)

Element47 2481 Posted January 16, 2014 Okay will do thank you. Any tips on if I run into a zombie with no weapons? Or how I should handle when other people approach me? if you encounter a zombie and are unarmed, outrun him. some have a longer attention span than others, i had one following me from one village to another. others stop after 100 meters and start wondering wtf they are doing.. generally, you will find that slopes, even slight ones, tend to slow them down, and breaking line of sight often breaks their attention.. if you have a blunt weapon, circle them constantly and bash them like a pinata. fly like a butterfly, sting (smash?) like a bee. when approached by other people, be prepared to announce your intentions over direct comms. as evidenced by recent empiric research, the inability to communicate over VoiP ingame reduces your chances of survival drastically. nevertheless, prepare for the worst. if attacked, you can either fight or bail out. both options are viable, and there are many instances of players who KO-punched armed attackers, or successfully fled the scene despite whole mags being emptied at them.

Thanks a lot for the advice. I have a gaming headset where you can remove the piece you speak into and I did and lost it so now I'm without a working headset :S A problem I find myself getting into is when I first spawn I'll search house to house, but I never find anything at all lol I best weapon I've ever had was a shovel. Any ideas on what I can do?
