Poor FPS in SA?

Recommended Posts

So basically as the title says, i have poor FPS in SA. By poor i mean like 20 odd FPS when i'm in key areas such as Cherno, NW Airfield etc. However when i just run along in the open i get an average FPS of 80, the fps is only bad in SA, i've never experienced before. Another note, the FPS drops even more when i'm in buildings. Is there anyway to fix this? Would be much appreciated if anyone had any ideas :)

Also i don't know if there has been previous topics in regards to this, i couldn't find anything under the search forum function however so i'd thought i would post this.

Maybe it's your internet connection, meanwhile my internet is quite low, i never get FPS drops, and i run the game on max settings.

Try lowering some settings

I run SA at 120 Frames.

I've heard the game is really CPU Intensive. Which I really don't have a problem with because I have a powerful CPU.

I got a i5 2500k, it should be fine. You have any suggestions for it?

It could be the internet.. However i haven't toyed around with a bunch of the settings, don't know which ones to keep/lower. Still want the game to look semi-pretty. What's the best settings to lower?

I have an i7 4770k, so I'm not really sure what it would be.

What OS are you on? It may just be optimization issues because while this is overused, it is Alpha.

Do you have a link to any guides on how to improve my FPS on SA? I know there's a few for Arma 2 (Which i can run maxed out, with over 60 FPS). Haven't found any for SA yet.

Windows 7

I'm really not sure, because I'm running on Windows 8.

I should be running worse than you.

But I max the game no problem.

nice.

-maxMem

you can set now on more than 2 gb?

true?

testing, beans anyway.

If you're asking about the video part of the settings.

I usually keep that on Auto, so it should be more on 2gb correct.

Did not take time to read the above posts so this may allready been said, if you go to youtube and search for DAYZ SA GRAPHIC SETTINGS some peoples have uploaded guides of how to optimize and goes over what benefits different settings may have.

Kind regards / Damy

I get (what I'd consider to be) awful fps in the SA too. 25-30 in cities, 35-40 in forests.

Specs:

i7-4930k @ 5.1GHz (all cores), Watercooled

32GB ddr3 2133MHz

r9 290x @ 1100/5800

Corsair force GT 240GB for windows/steam

Win 7 ultimate x64

Out of game settings:

cfg-

GPU_MaxFramesAhead=1;
GPU_DetectedFramesAhead=1;
shadowZDistance=200;
preferredObjectViewDistance=1000;

Launch options-
-CpuCount=6 -ExThread=11 -maxVRAM=4095 -maxMem=32768

Ingame settings-

1080p res

Vsync Disabled

Texture Detail: Very high

Texture Filtering: High

Objects/Terrain/Clouds: Very high

Shadows: Low

AA/Alpha to coverage: Disabled

Edge Smoothing: Disabled

HDR: Very Low

Ambient Occlusion: Enabled

Post processing: High

Bloom/Radial blur: Minimum

Some options up higher for sure, but the more demanding ones (aa/edge smoothing/shadows/hdr etc) turned down.

Cpu temp tops out @ ~70c, gpu about the same, so no chance of thermal throttling. No unnecessary background crap running.
