More Roleplaying please?

I'm just waiting for more of the roleplaying aspects they talked about like building up stats as you go on through the game etc 

There's plenty they can do to make the game more interesting and varied, it just requires some creative thinking and community feedback.

i dont mean like extreme roleplay,  just give yourself a target, i.e. give spare food to new spawns, dont shoot on sight, give medical equipment away etc... i do understand some people dont like it and i can see why, i just want people to choose this over fresh spawn hunting sometimes when they get to endgame which takes up to 1-3hoursw/ no server hopping

Ok, so hows this?

 

First, I changed my steam profile name to "CobraCommander" (was AMAZED that it wasn't already taken..)

 

Logged in, found a guy (full mil cammo, moisin, helmet and gas mask) in one of the barracks at bolota, cornered him, and this is what happened:

 

(from this point, it helps if you imagine me speaking in the same voice as the 1980's Cobra Commander from "GI JOE". I do an EXCELLENT impression. no joke. Its REALLY good.)

 

GUY: "friendlyfriendly don't shoot!"

 

ME: "I AM COBRA COMMANDER!!! YOU WILL OBEY ME! SURRENDER EEE-MEDIATELY, OR DIE!!!"

 

GUY: *puts hands up "ok man. what do you want?"

 

ME: "I DEEEMAND THAT YOU TELL ME OF THE JOE'S PLANST TO STOP ME AND MY WEATHER MODULATOR!!! SPEAK, WORM!"

 

GUY: "what? look man im friendly, don't shoot me, ok? maybe we can"

 

ME: "SssssSILENCE, WORM!!!! TELL ME NOOOOW!!! WHAT ARE THE JOE'S PLANS TO STOP ME AND MY WEATHER MODULATOR!!"

 

GUY: "uhhh....I don't know anything about your weather match-u-bator man...."

 

ME: "FOOOL!!! ITS MODULATOR!!! IF YOU DONT KNOW ANYTHING, THEN YOU ARE OF NO USE TO MEEEE...DIE WORM!!!"

 

*shoots guy in face. a moment later, another shot rings out in the distance. I suspect he was a bandit, and was trying to buy time for his buddy to come help him. My killing him forced his buddy to act before he was ready, but he missed (that's what I SUSPECT. don't know for sure).

 

I ran up to his corpse, and saw that he had handcuffs, several opened cans of food, a full bag of blood, 4 or 5 medkits, and a moisin and some ammo.

 

Took his bayonet, and ammo (didn't need anything else he had), and made a clean escape.

 

SO: how'd I do????

A few guys tried to roleplay with Me the other day, but I had other plans. I was at Balota in a tent in between the barracks and the ATC tower and they ran up on Me yelling, "theres a guy, theres a guy......F2, F2. As they were saying F2 F2, I was rolling My eyes and shaking My head as I hit ESC and exit. You are  going to have to take My gear from my still warm dead body. 

Really man? That's so low. Where is your sense of adventure? I got robbed, then punched and beaten by a group of 5 bandits, they didn't want to kill me, but they wanted to leave me for dead. After they leave me, i'm hurt badly and naked in the middle of nowhere. I know where the nearest town is, I know where several were actually. But I decided to go to the town I thought would be quiet. So, between random fainting spells. (I was reaaaaaaaally close to dying) I make it to town. I scout it from the tree line, it's quiet. I think to myself good, it's safe I can get some food, water and clothing. Going into town, I hit a small house, and just my luck, I find a revolver! And a pair of badly damaged pants. I tuck the revolver into my pocket and go about looking for food,maybe find an elusive Saline IV, or at least the components. I go through a few more house, careful not to alert the few zombies that are in town, that would surely be a death sentence. I find a nice green raincoat, food to sustain myself, which I mostly ate on the spot. The town was generous in supplies, and I wasn't the only one who was there any more. I had spotted him from inside a 2 story house, watching him dart from building to building, leaving the doors wide open, and probably wondering why the houses were empty. He was descending upon my position, and I called out to him. "Hey man, I got my gun trained on you, I don't want to shoot, but I don't know what your intentions are."

I knew this could've gone either way, but he didn't know my location yet. He talks down the mic "I'm friendly man, don't shoot." While running to hide behind some cover that he thought would protect him. I call out again "Just drop the gun man, I can still see you. I would've killed you by now if I was going to kill you". He retorts "I just bet you don't have any ammo." He was calling my bluff. I quickly shoot back "Well,considering we are this far north, I obviously have ammo. Come on, drop the weapon, and I'll come out unarmed." He actually agrees. I come out, I tell him to leave his weapon on the ground for now, and we talk. We discuss a few things, I ask if he had a Saline IV, turns out he does and he's got a few extra so he doesn't mind sparing. He gives me the IV, and we talk, exchange some revolver ammo for a 5.56 box I had found. We part ways not long after on good terms. 

 

This would've never happened if I had combat logged like you did.

Do roleplayers refuse to let their character run for hours without end and stop every few minutes so that they could 'catch their breath'? Do you pretend you have to sit down for a few minutes after having a large in-game meal to let the food digest?

I don't think I could pretend I'm a real person if my character just runs everywhere all the time, I would totally walk in a leisurely pace.

no i dont, when i see other players or my spidey senses start tingling i go roleplay style, sometimes i am found sitting down after eating my food

So i searched the forums and didnt find any threads like this

What i would like is for more people to take up the idea of roleplaying. We already have enough psychotic sadist murderers and i want people to become a character, give yourself a story? Be a hero, medic, a REAL bandit, murderer friendly bambi helper, coast guard etc... Give yourself something to do once you reach "endgame" maybe get an M4 go to cherno kill 4 people then die so you canstart a fresh, rather than take extra ammo take extra food? I am doing this, my next life i am going to say i am not allowed into any military areas such as vybor/kabanino military base, balota airstrip, NE AF, NWAF so on and i will sit around in kamyshovo shoving beans and soda down the throats of new spawns in my luminous orange raincoat

 

I don't like roleplaying, If you like roleplaying then I have no problems with that, But DayZ isn't a RP game. If you are robbing players, you should do it because you have reasons to do it, the game forces you to do it, not because I want to RP a robbery even tho I can kill the guy if I want. What I'm saying is, if we want to rob somebody without killing we should do it because of things like noise, ruined gear, waste of a bullet etc, not because I just want to play a guy who robs without killing.

"RP" as word or term is being thrown about more lightly here anyway, I think.

 

I'd speak of "semi-RP" or something anyway. You don't have to go "full RP" to enjoy the game, most of the stuff is or can be part of the game anyway. If you want to help someone, just do it. You can immerse yourself in the game without resorting to a "full character" if you know what I mean.

 

Or, well, let's talk about "Light Roleplay" or stuff, not the classic stuff.

Roleplay is awesome,but the lack of features and options of guns etc. make it hard for me to do so.
