Realistic Effects after Getting shot

Recommended Posts

I've never been shot in real life so I'm not entirely sure how painful it is. But i think if you get shot, your character should topple to the ground and start yelling in agony and cursing in Chernarussian. Perhaps you walk slower too, and the noise out of you will attract the crazed ones. You can put a leather belt/cloth/random yokey between your teeth to muffle the yells though.

You can look it up and read about gunshot survivors description of pain.

It's like a very strong punch, then a searing fire pain in the wound, like it is on fire.

Not everyone reacts the same to a gunshot, some don't even realize they've been shot before being told that they are bleeding. Shock and adrenaline play a big role in that, so I think there are too many factors that could influence this behavior to make it realistic across the board.

So you would rather superheroes that are immune to pain and have no weakness in a gun fight?

No, but having every player shot stumble to the ground and scream in pain is not the solution either. If something is implemented later during beta, it should be something more realistic but certainly not as drastic as your suggestion. You have to remember that the current behavior or rather lack of is not chosen, there is currently a lack of features that are yet to be.

And to add to the above comments the effect also depends on the mental state of the person... example, if an animal gets shot after it is already alerted, it is more likely to take off running (and then expire) than an animal which is shot whilst blissfully unaware, bang-flop.

I imagine the same is true for humans. Don't know how it would be feasible to incorporate that.
