ArtfulDodger46 6 Posted January 13, 2014 Start out by saying this is not a complaint as I know this is Alpha, I am just curious if this is a common occurrence.Logged out south of Novy Sobor a few hours ago with a decent kit. Started up the game about 30 minutes ago and I was respawned on the coast. Is this an alpha thing? Was I somehow sick? I was limited to walking before I logged off, but I had ate and drank and sat down before logging off. Just trying to understand the game a bit better. FatKangaroo 72 Posted January 13, 2014 Yeah, I've been wiped out like that. It seems that it has some sort of probability of wiping you when you join a server. I was in and out of servers because they had bad connections. So I attempted to cycle through a few until I can find a playable server for myself. During that process I was wiped when I joined in one of them. No reason at all either.It's alpha, so we were warned! Hang in there! And hopefully it will get fixed soon. pteryx 14 Posted January 13, 2014 Try hopping around 5-6 servers. If it doesn't work, try again a few hours later. If that doesn't work your gear is probably gone. I got wiped with a full kit and after checking 5 servers I gave up and decided my gear was gone, only to find out it was back the next day. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Character data is stored on the hive, not on any individual server. OP, it's a common issue apparently to do with a server's ability to remain connected to the hive. Also, some servers have not yet been "white-listed" and so they will not have permission to access the hive yet and will not store your progress (or be able to retrieve your data from the hive, so logging in to these servers will effectively "wipe" your character). rocket discusses the issue here: http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/155698-serious-database-issue-bug/ Here's the tracker issue: http://feedback.dayzgame.com/view.php?id=78 You should go there, vote it up and add comments about your own experiences to increase visibility on this relatively critical issue. In the meantime, I suggest you use the "Favorites" function to flag servers which reliably store your progress, then only play there. I could walk or turbo, that was it. I've run into the same issue myself, I don't know what the cause is but I've found that hitting enter (just once) seems to alleviate the issue.
