Sooden 301 Posted January 12, 2014 (edited) 6) The tinfoil bobble hat comes off Dint want to post this under my 'mission bobble hat' as it may spark replies that don't belong in bobble hat. !This report/test/Journal is a little long, don't post unless you gunna read! Added (to make more scene i hope) {Testing the KOS game play style} I decide to take off the hat and let the voices in, 'kill! Kill! Kill! within reasonable parameters", My daemon have some morals lol. So the rules where as followed: - 3PP:off servers only - No server hoping for loot. - No Lying two faced-ness (e.g Saying your friendly, waiting for them to drop their guard, then killing them. This is not KOS, I will let you decide what to call that sort of person :P ) - No attacking unarmed players. (sure, people say they need to be killed as they will be come a threat, but have some balls! Give them a chance to become a threat, then kill them) - No camping and sniping (just to dull for me to do) Really had no idea what to expect as I never had KOS before. Not to be confused with killing, like when under attack or after someone takes out a friend. But I thought it was time I saw this style of game play for my self. I would class my actions as 'Survival KOSer' as I'm not looking for a fight, but will kill armed people if I have a chance, for my own safety.Apologies to anyone attacked in this test. And it begins :- KOS attempt 1, F- Axe vs F-Axe, me with no helm, them with a helm, but I get first it in. After some crazy runny around each player getting some hits in, they got the final blow and killed me. Not so easy with an Axe, maybe I need head protection, maybe I need skills.*(lasted about 1 hour in total for that life)*( fair fight equipment wise) So, looted my self some KOS skills, aka a gun, and set off again. Took a rest in a room, and BAM! KOS count one... guns! Skills (pistol only, person had logged in next to me (they weren't camping loot), gave them a second, then KOS- What an assy thing to do) Satisfaction at zero :( I just killed someone that didn't know it was coming, and probably spoiled their day. Maybe the next KOS would give me a 'high'? After all, if I didn't KOS them, they would have killed me, they blocked the only exit to the room and had a gun (Such pitiful excuses from me) ---Bit of a side topic ---- Zzz. The mission continues. There was a really tense moment when someone tried to snipe me in electro, so I ran to the hospital with my pistol and waited for them to come... and noting. So I ran out of the hospital (10 mins later), and gunfire rang again (m4) so I ran into the church and, waited Zzzz (15mins). So then I just left the church, running in crazy ways with bullets shooting at me from somewhere. Think there where 2 shooters, an M4 and a mosin. All shot missed, so I waited in a big metal shed, and guess what... Nothing!I know if I had kill them, it would not be KOS, but really, they afraid of me with my little pistol :P --------------- 5 hours later and no more armed people met(who weren't snipe hiding, no bambi KOSed - rules :P). KOS mission over for now. So the conclusion; Base on KOSing within the rules of this test, 'Survival KOSer' are of little worry as they are not camping out for kills, nor killing pointless targets. I saw very few people while just looting and surviving, and ready to kill threats on site. So I feel KOS is used wrongly atm, too in compass all the killers. Camper killers/sniper: They don't KOS, they wait for a kill, like spider (but kos=kill on sight, and that what they do... < shut up :P) People running around for a fight: They aren't KOS, they are hunting people. They will probably not kill you on site, but check you out, get the advantage, then kill you.. Kind of like above. Con artists: They will befriend you , gain your trust, then kill you. Worst of the worst, and so not KOS. Just a note ' KOS attempt 1' would have been to easy if I had a gun. Not sure if I will run another KOS test, its really not for me, and missed the chance of friendly interaction. Edited January 12, 2014 by Sooden
Guest Posted January 12, 2014 I read all of that..... And I still don't get it :/
Sooden 301 Posted January 12, 2014 (edited) aww, that's a shame, and I re-read it 3 times before posting. maybe some else will read it and explain my point better. Sorry, I don't have the best language skills Basically, rather than me playing a hero, I played as a KOSer (Not a mass murderer) so see what it would be like. added: Also, may be confusing cus it not for or against KOSers (not another rant thread), just an unbiased look at that style of play . Added:OMG, I didn't mention at the top I was testing the KOS game style*smacks head* Edited January 12, 2014 by Sooden
GOD™ 2795 Posted January 12, 2014 I tried the KoS playstyle once, boring as hell.
Sooden 301 Posted January 12, 2014 Hope I get some beans for report :P (was some effort) But yeah, I got bored too. But I though if im ever gonna comment on another KOS thread in the future, I should at least have some idea what KOSing is about, on both sides.

Andarne (DayZ) 84 Posted January 12, 2014 You're mad, Sooden. Mad as mad can be. But interesting thesis - how did you feel after KoS'ing for a while? Power rush, or depression? Do tell!

Sooden 301 Posted January 12, 2014 (edited) You're mad, Sooden. Mad as mad can be. But interesting thesis - how did you feel after KoS'ing for a while? Power rush, or depression? Do tell! No rush-fun-feeling, after a kill. It was panic to get safe and clear in case I was seen. Then I felt like I had spoiled someone game, who dint know it was coming. Have killed before (in game, i'm not that crazy), but always after they attack first. Rather be shot for taking a risk at communication than kill on site. Just what makes me more happy :) and if they attack first and I kill them for it, then I feel satisfaction Edited January 12, 2014 by Sooden
