Repair system - Fallout style

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, quick topic

How about a repair system similar to that of fallout?

Concept...

You have a worn item, you find the same item in the same condition, you can combine it to upgrade your original item into a pristine, deleting the 2nd item you found.

Simple, easy and gives the player a chance to overcome the quality system.

For instance, ive found about 30+ non-stock attachments for the M4, never pristine. (Not including scopes, ive found plenty of pristine scopes)

So if I have two worn car wheels, I can combine them to make one which is pristine?

Tell me, how would you do that in real life?..

First off, it shouldn't directly make them pristine, rather, for each repair it slighty increases the condition, enough repairs result in jumping a condition. Depending on the condition of the stuff.

Korsabek, you get 2 worn tires, they are NOT exactly the same. One might have something in it that is perfect condition but the other one doesn't. You take the best parts of 2 tires and combine them. That is how it works.

Okay, you do that in real life with basic tools. I have tried tearing the tire of the rim of a wheel. It's impossible.

So if im wearing a ballistic vest, i can only take 2 shots before its ruined?

Tell me, how would you do that in real life?..

So if im sick, and have antibiotics

Tell me, how do i know which one to take?.. Erthromycin, vanomycin, penicillin? Maybe its viral?

So if i broke my leg, and have morphine, i can inject and fix it?

Tell me, how do you do that in real life?..

This is a GAME, not frustration incarnate (althought close to it) and not survivor sim 2014, proudly brought to you by farming sim 2013. Its dayz, its more of a deathmatch than survivor sim, despite what you may want, that is what it is, and always will be.

Also as for the concept, yeah it doesnt go pristine instantly, read what i wrote, i said it was worn, the next quality after worn is pristine.

Yeah agreed, but i think this would be a good starting point for a dayz repair system, doesnt have to be identical.

I still think you would need tools along with this. It also should have a decent timer on it. in fallout you can repair items in a split second. DayZ, if it were to have this, should take MUCH longer

Would make use for screwdrivers other than opening cans.

It doesn't have to be exactly the same, but Fallout is a good template.

Think it shouldn't be a 100% upgrade. As you don't always have working pieces, and it should take some to even get near pristine as you cant really put 2 crappy items together to get a perfect one.
