Let me choose to look like a survivor

Recommended Posts

Ive read tons of topics on making bandits look different or stand out in some way. Players are complaining about how thats not realistic and what not, I tend to agree with them. If I choose to kill you I should be able too without any consiquences. However if I wish to wear something that marks me as friendly then I should be allowed.

What I would like to see is a white scarf I can equip to my bag that would indicate to other players that I havent killed any other players. By killing any survivor it would get blood stains on it and turn red, indicating to others that I murdered someone. This scarf would be able to be removed at anytime I wish. You could even add the option to wash the scarf at a water source.

I like the idea of friendly wanting to look friendly. Yes Bandits could still wear a scarf to grief. But it would turn red once they kill, so they would have to wash or remove it.

This actually sounds like a fun idea, griefers can grief, legit bandits can keep it on, and survivors won't have to be as cautious with the people they meet.

pointless as no one would trust it.

For a trust system to work it needs to be infallible, or near enough, so that, you know, people can trust in it.

Right, but in combination with the humanity system you should be able to tell if someone has be killing with whatever Rocket comes up with be it the heartbeat system. The scarf would just provide a more visual way for me to apear friendly if I actually am.

True, but you would have to remove the washing ability otherwise it wouldn't be trusted. And it would have to be something less lame and immersion breaking than a scarf, perhaps just bloody clothes, though that has been suggested before.

I agree we need a way for survivors to establish some sort of reliable voluntary trust. I suggested in another thread that survivors could salute each other to establish "friendship", then if one killed the other they would be punished with a massive humanity drop. Simple to implement and it should be somewhat effective.

I see it as being able to visably establish which way someone is playing, ie white flag or whatever visual que you choose. Its a fairly simple idea to atleast test while the game is still in its infancy. I personaly like the idea of being able to clean it because it adds the element of risk, whilst knowing that playing hasnt murdered reciently.

Wat.

This suggestion differs in no way from the original bandit skins, other than it being completely untrustworthy because a visit to the ocean renders it obsolete.

I see your point. Maybe this whole issue wont exist if he ever implements dogs, as they could have some sort of growl or snarl if they sense someone with low humanity.

Pretty sure Rocket isn't against griefing players. Any smart bandit would try to earn people's trust and then stab them in the back. Welcome to apocalypse now.

That is actually somewhat believable, but it would make no difference to the average bandit that will shoot you from 200 yards away.

I still remain convinced that the key to alleviating excessive PvP is to make it easier for people to form groups.
