Battleye causing Micro-stutters/Freezing. DayZ Unplayable.

Recommended Posts

Disclaimer: I don't pretend to be an expert, im only sharing what ive found in my online searches.

So ive had this issue since buying DayZ, did hours of searching on Google, DayZ Forums, BIStudio Forums/Support, Battleye Support, and ive come to the conclusion that a reoccurring problem has resurfaced once again.

The problem is that while playing DayZ, the game stutters heavily for no apparent reason.

This stutter is not a result of latency, system performance, or anything CPU/GPU related.

Nobody seems to know EXACTLY what causes the issue or how to fix it for all users, only that its happened before in ArmA2, DayZ Mod, and recently in ArmA3, now apparently for only a portion of DayZSA players.

From what ive gathered in my desperate search for a fix, the problem is caused when Battleye conflicts with other Memory Scanning programs such as AntiVirus, AntiMalware, etc.

Quote from Battleye.com Info page:

"BattlEye scans the game and the system in RAM and on HDD."

Quote from ArmA3 Bug Report:

"I have ESET Smart Security 7 Even disabling firewall and AV, other security components still running like HIPS ... When i disable ADVANCED MEMORY SCANNER under HIPS, the problem goes away."

Now, personally im running a combination of AVG and MBAM, disabling them didn't help.

So, all this being said, does anyone know anything about this or how it might be fixed?

Has this issue been addressed in any other posts by a Dev?

Has BIStudio or Battleye said anything about it?

Is there a temporary fix we can use until an official patch fixes it?

ETA on a patch?

Any information on this issue other than bug reports or non-specific forum posts?

I suffer from similiar problem, not sure if its related in my game it works fine for a while, then the game slowy starts to stutter, i lose a little fps, but even when the game is around 50-60 fps it stutters constantly, it cuts the micro chats, makes static noise on the audio of the game, and after i close the game my whole pc is sluggish and unusable, to fix it i must restart my windows account

It was never looked into properly or fixed for Arma 2 so I can probably put money on it never being resolved for DayZ SA. What BIS fails to accept is that Battleye is the cause of more problems that it solves and a better Anti-Cheat is probably out the already. Battleye is also one of those things that 'Hackers' (not the scripters that use the tools developed by hackers) have a very easy time when it comes to coding bypasses and the like. So unfortunately it's something we have to deal with I'm afraid.

Though I have to say that I play on BE protected (cough) servers and don't experience too much in the way of stutter, certainly not to the levels that the game becomes unplayable.

There is another thing - SLi and Crossfire can cause microstutter, more so on the AMD side. If you have it enabled try disabling it and see if the problem decreases.

Sounds like you're running out of memory there.
