Walking up and down hills... whilst under fire.

I recall the same thing happening in all the mods I played, so I know this is nothing new, but is this the way it is going to stay? I don't expect to be able to sprint up a hill without fatigue or at a reduced pace but it's stupid that your character walks at a snails pace to get up. It's even sillier that your character does the exact same thing when you're going DOWN the hill.

It really breaks your immersion into the game when you're chasing someone who doesn't know you're there (or does!) and you're having to walk up a hill, or worse, when you're being shot at whilst you're on a hill and the only real way to escape is to go left or right with a slight incline. I'm sure if it was life or death, a person could muster a little energy to sprint on an incline.

The hill is abrupt. In real life, you don't sprint in a precipitous hill, because there are not enough contact surfaces to your feet. So it's logical that you have to walk slowly in-game  :P

So I don't think they would make new animations just for this. Maybe 2 years after full-release

I agree it is a bit stupid, I can tell you for one if you come under fire you do whatever you can to get your ass up a hill, regardless of angle,

going downhill makes sense though.

Yeah...but i don't gingerly put my feet half an inch ahead of me each step when im  walking up a 1 to 2 ft incline, and i'm pretty sure you don't either...so..

Something like this?

Skip to 1:20 if it already isn't there.

Maybe multiple animations like when your sprinting uphill a fast pace animation where your on all fours and you kind of crawl up hill, and when your walking uphill a slower one where you use your hands to push against your knees as you go up.

(big picture of cliff)

Ah, Temple of Doom - it was the one with the monkey brains! And that kid, Short Round. One of the reasons the PG-13 rating exists.

Looks as if they've caught one of the crew in the bottom-left there, obviously rushing to fix the bridge.

What about running up the hill and tripping on wet grass, followed by a face plant into the ground? Now that would be immersion!

We already have 2 basic modes of movement and i think we need a 3rd panic mode for a few things like this. I'd like a "GTF up and run, NOW!" key, In arma 2 you could double tap the sprint key while prone and you'd pop up quick. Also movement keys should cancel animations i think. A "put both arms up [with weapon] to show your not a threat, but immediately, not a few seconds later like the F2 animation. The gun could stay on the chest, as if held up by a sling.

I will be ecstatic if at some point your character will stop freezing in its spot randomly like it would in the mod.

Get out of a vehicle? - Wait a second I need to freeze for a second while you're taking fire. Ok now we can move again, if you weren't dead already that is.

Wake up from being unconscious? - Wait a second I need to put an invisble rifle on my back and pull out an invisble pistol before grabbing my actual rifle. Ooops you're dead already. Or maybe you passed out again. Who knows.

Or in the mod "You can't drink a soda while moving! what are you a madman?"

It seems to me like this game has too many animations and transition animations for its own good, we could do with a few less intricately detailed animations for some minor actions in exchange for a lot more re-activity. And for crying out loud don't get me started about being forced to stand up and teleport 2 meters into the air just so you could climb down a ladder.

I agree, and disagree.. I can't tell you how many times I have just started taking a drink or eating food or putting gas in a truck (in the mod), just to hear the "ARRRURRRR" sound of a zombie aggroing, and taking 3-4 hits before the animation was over.

They should DEFINITELY add animation canceling.

They should definitely repair some of the transition animations.

They should possibly add some new animations to make transitions smoother

Overall, it's the clunkiness of the animations and the fact that you can't stop them once started which makes it so painful to watch. If the transitions were a bit smoother and there were more animations going from 1 action to the next, and you could actually STOP those animations by canceling them with movement at any time, it would make a huge difference in how the game felt.
