BlackKrow 0 Posted January 11, 2014 I just payed $30 for a game that I can barely play. I've checked to make sure all my drivers are up-to-date and I verified the files in Steam and it said everything was fine. I've tried reinstalling the game, but nothing has changed. Why is it like this? Hirntot 6 Posted January 11, 2014 it's look like graphic artifact, did this happen to other game ? If yes then your graphics card may be dying.

gray-z@hotmail.co.uk 84 Posted January 11, 2014 (edited) This looks like a hardware problem to me. Are you experiencing problems with other games? Could be as simple as a bad cable up to a terminally sick GPU. EDIT: Other game question was already asked and answered Edited January 11, 2014 by G24HAM
Lyganesh 10 Posted January 11, 2014 Turn off Aero. Also, does this game even support windows 8.1? I think it works with 8 but I never seen many people with 8.1 play this. Make sure that your game options are optimized.

Hirntot 6 Posted January 11, 2014 Try windowed mode, and watch the temperature of your graphic card it's something wrong with it.
BlackKrow 0 Posted January 11, 2014 Try windowed mode, and watch the temperature of your graphic card it's something wrong with it.A friend of mine took control of my pc to see if he could find the problem and he couldn't find any. We tried in windowed mode and it didn't help. We just came to the conclusion that since my drivers for the graphics card was recently updated and the game is still in alpha, that the game might not be up-to-date with it. I don't know. Duval (DayZ) 0 Posted January 12, 2014 Can you post a picture of your desktop. It looks like it is a graphics card issue but this may also be an issue with the pins in the DIV/HDMI/VGA cord you are using. The vertical lines on your screen can happen with these problems. If you want to check the pins on the cord, both into the monitor, and into the CPU that would be great. If DAYZ is the only thing that this happens on, and you don't feel like posting a picture of your deskptop, then it's either your graphics card and heat issues as stated above, or problems with Aero as stated above as well. Guest Posted January 12, 2014 try reinstalling directx. You can do thsi by going to program files (x86) > Steam > Steamapps > Common > dayz > _CommonRedist > Directx > jun2010 > DXSETUP.exe. or try reinstalling microsoft.NET Frameworkc 4.5.1 : http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=40779

It's not the graphics card as the card is still new and DayZ isn't a very heavy graphic game. If I can run games like Metal Gear Revengance or Skyrim on max graphics, I'm pretty sure I can run DayZ. The drivers for it were recently updated though, could that have some sort of effect on the game? try reinstalling directx. BlackKrow 0 Posted January 12, 2014 (edited) Ok, I tried Window Mode again and it worked, all the red went away, but if I change the size of the resolution again, the red comes back. Edit: Nevermind, I restarted the game it doesn't work :/ False alarm. Edited January 12, 2014 by BlackKrow
