BL1P 252 Posted January 10, 2014 (edited) Suggest what Achievements you would like to see in the Final version when released. I know some people don't like Steam Achievements that's fine don't bother posting. As this is a request for Steam Achievements not a request for arguments against it. Have a nice day. I would say that every Achievement should reset when you are killed. There would be multiple Achievements per category for example "Zombies killed with baseball bat - lvl 1 10kill unlock Batter Up lvl 2 50kills unlock (insert witty bat related name here)" Hours alive (must be ingame and active)Zombies killedZombies killed with (insert every weapon type here)Zombie types killed (insert every zombie type here)Beans Eaten Fish caught Animals killedAnimal type killed (insert every animal type here)Meat eaten (insert every... well you get the idea)Players killed Same player killed (none steam friend)Distance traveled Towns visitedSpecial sites visitedSpecial Items collectedItems craftedBullets usedWeapons CraftedSteam friends killedPlayers force fed (good)Players force fed (bad)Players hand cuffedPeople eatenTime spent sickTimes vomited Edited January 10, 2014 by BL1P
mzltv 2281 Posted January 10, 2014 (edited) I'm not against Steam Achievements at all, but I'd rather they focus on progressing the game to a completed retail build as opposed to making sure people can swing their e-dicks. I'm not really sure if Achievements would work for this either. I can't explain why. I just don't think it'd feel right.Actually, I think I can. DayZ is an unscripted experience. You go around and create the way you want to play, survive and the situations you want to find yourself falling into. The addition of achievements would contradict that. It would encourage people to play in a certain way, and become more of a fixed direction than it would a place to express your own character's will... But that may also be me looking a little too far into implementing Achievements, aha. Edited January 10, 2014 by mzltv

[email protected] 84 Posted January 10, 2014 (edited) Erm.. go back and read his first sentence. Also I don't get the mentality where someone automatically associates stats with E-Peen...... are you insecure with your own? Anyway some things could be fun and some things can be almost little challenges to keep you entertained whilst searching for the lesser seen can opener. Just make sure that K/D/R is left out because that there will drag it down to twitch shooter levels. Edit - OP beat me in the Reply race..... GG sir :D Edited January 10, 2014 by G24HAM

Still it is kinda moving into the I know some people don't like Steam Achievements that's fine don't bother posting. As this is a request for Steam Achievements not a request for arguments against it. Have a nice day. I've already stated, I'm not against achievements in any form, but you can't post a suggestion on a public forum and state you don't want any form of discussion to take place... that's just counter-productive. I imagine, if anything, there will be something akin to the stats that were initially being tracked when DayZ Mod was initially released, perhaps in a more individual context. Brofessional 9 Posted January 10, 2014 Sounds like you just want stat-tracking not achievements. Which would be fine as long as it doesn't track K:D and such, that would just encourage KoS even more.

Kosing is apart of the game, and when there is more things for players to do, and less m4s to carry around. There will be less kosing.

Mos1ey 6301 Posted January 10, 2014 The only achievements that I would support in DayZ are "survived X hours of play time", anything else should not be encouraged or discouraged by achievements and you definitely shouldn't have to player kill to get them all. Anyway, I highly doubt it will happen. BiS games never have achievements.

kichilron 8550 Posted January 10, 2014 One of the Musty guys wrote a script for ingame achieveme ts in the mod. It worked very good and I liked it. I was trying a couple of things and it most certainly can be done and connected to all sorts of things, though it will make your missionfile huge on vanilla DayZ.That's not the point, though. I personally wouldn't like to see in SA, as I don't want to have to think about what I need to do in order to achieve something. That's not what DayZ is about. If I want to sit in the forest at a campfire doing absolutely nothing, so be it. That's the spirit of DayZ - not having to kill as many players / Zombies from distance > x in order to achieve something.Especially as that won't help with the current problems in the DasZ-community.
Zeet. 101 Posted January 10, 2014 (edited) You don't have a "score" in DayZ, so no, probably not. xD Well you know, to implement a type of information sheet for some useful info, like how many hours and minutes your character has been alive for, how long your character has traveled, how many items consumed, how many times has he fought off disease and sickness, items picked up, how many bullets fired, player kills :| , zombie kills. Any type of information about our character would be lovely. Edited January 10, 2014 by Zeet.

Again the only stat that I think should be available is "time survived" as survival is the only goal set by the game.
kichilron 8550 Posted January 10, 2014 mosley hit the nail on the head there. DayZ wasn't intended as a game the old-fashioned way, rocket stated he wanted it to be an anti-game and unforgiving as such, so gamestats don't really fit in the concept, in my oppinion.
