How long does a door stay open?

Does anybody know?

I'm running solo, and I just reached the airport, and I've got plenty valuable loot.

 

I found my way inside the fence, and I discovered that almost all of the doors were open. - meaning that someone else is in close proximity.

 

Does anyone know how long a door will stay open ingame before it closes itself, or does it stay open regardless?

Like piru suggested, until the server restarts. A reminder: people get cautious to remove their track, so they may close the gate of the house, so be aware of the doors of the rooms, they are also shut if no one have left them open.

Also remember, a closed door at high risk areas may hide a ambush inside.

OP great question. Wondered that myself. Thanks everyone for answering the question. I do try to cover my tracks by closing doors. Unfortunately I sometimes forget which buildings I have searched!

Never trust a closed door in Dayz SA. In fact...do not trust anything in Dayz...

I have found that gates do not always follow this principle.  In Zelen, all the gates on fences were open, but no doors were, and this was 530 am and nobody had set foot in any building.
